Monica is an author with nomadic tendencies who believes in drinking tea to Stay Calm. She has lived almost as many years in the USA as in the UK. Her favorite things to do are visiting historical sites here in the UK and snuggling up with a good book when it's raining. She dislikes zombies like the plague, and avoids them if at all possible. Monica writes serious, comical and fantasy Pride and Prejudice Variations. Her most popular books are Fortune and Felicity (serious), the Dangerous Magic series (magical fantasy, also serious), and Longbourn Entanglement (comical novella). Which makes her mostly a serious writer, but she loves to laugh. She lives with the delusional idea that her two cats are telepathic. Which they are.

Dangerous Magic Tour: Deleted Chapter

When he arrived at Rosings Park, Darcy sent a footman to fetch his cousin, then stepped went into the orangery where they could have some privacy. The glass building was his favorite place in Rosings. He and Anne had spent hours together practicing their spells there, and occasionally hiding from Lady Catherine after they had gotten into mischief.

Tale of A Bonnet: Darcy in Hyde Park

For this month, the theme at Austen Variations is Sonnets and Bonnets. I intended to write a poem, but that is easier said than done. I have a ghost of a poem written, but I think it will require more work before I can allow anyone to look at it. So this is a choice …

It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for DANGEROUS MAGIC: A PRIDE AND PREJUDICE to come out. I wrote this novel last year, during lockdown, and I wanted to escape to a kingdom far, far away.  What better place to escape to than Jane Austen’s England — don’t we all love to go there? — …

Dangerous Magic: Prologue

Dangerous Magic A pride and prejudice magical variation

Well, the wild winds and snow of Storm Darcy that had us in its thrall here in the UK are over, and we are back to our normal February weather. Much as I love Darcy, I am glad the storm is gone and the snow clouds have lifted. Like all angst, it’s okay if it …

It’s snowing here in the South of England with blizzard-type conditions, so this would be a great time for Darcy and Elizabeth to be stuck indoors together in an isolated hut somewhere where they would have to sleep under the only blanket if they wanted to stay warm…  In any case, our current storm is …

Retrospective: Looking Back at Our 2020 Releases

Happy New Year! 2020 was a very difficult year for everyone, so I think it’s important for us to celebrate the achievement of all the authors who were somehow able to make their way through writing a book (or more than one, as it so happens!). It is no mean feat, I can tell you, …

Pugilism: Boxing, Diversity, and Mr. Darcy

“A gentleman only uses his hands to defend himself, and not to attack; we call the pugilistic art, for that reason, the noble science of defence.”  Bill Richmond If you’ve read Georgette Heyer’s Regency novels, or Regency novels in general, you’ll recognize a situation where the heroine arrives at an inn only to find all …

Launch Day! Fortune and Felicity

It’s finally here!! It seems like it was a very long journey for this Pride and Prejudice what-if variation, which was written during difficult circumstances for me and, more recently, for the whole world. I can hardly believe the project has finally come to fruition! I’m wiping away a little tear from my eye. Fortune …
