Monica is an author with nomadic tendencies who believes in drinking tea to Stay Calm. She has lived almost as many years in the USA as in the UK. Her favorite things to do are visiting historical sites here in the UK and snuggling up with a good book when it's raining. She dislikes zombies like the plague, and avoids them if at all possible. Monica writes serious, comical and fantasy Pride and Prejudice Variations. Her most popular books are Fortune and Felicity (serious), the Dangerous Magic series (magical fantasy, also serious), and Longbourn Entanglement (comical novella). Which makes her mostly a serious writer, but she loves to laugh. She lives with the delusional idea that her two cats are telepathic. Which they are.

Sneak Peek: Allow Me to Tell You

I’m currently revising a section from the ending of my novel, and as I was reading it one last time, it brought tears to my eyes. I must admit, I do like the journey D&E go through in this novel. I think they find out a lot about themselves as well as each other. Are …

Sneak Peek: Allow Me to Tell You

Hello everyone, I would have like to put up some pictures of blossoms from my area in Surrey, but alas, spring has sent us a mixed bag of snow and cold winds, so there’s no chance of it.  But at least this section of the WIP has a spring setting — and a proposal. This …

Sneak Peak: Allow Me to Tell You

At long last, I am at the final stages of my non-magical  WIP,  Allow Me to Tell You: A Regency Pride and Prejudice Variation. Writing this novel has been a strange and convoluted process. Originally, it was supposed to be a very short comic novella, part of a series of novellas that started with Longbourn …

A Walk in the Peak District: Darcy searches for peace

Mr. Darcy is walking the Peak district in this short scene by Monica Fairview. The image shows a path leading down to a bridge in a narrow valley.

This short excerpt is based on a deleted section from Mysterious Mr. Darcy. It was meant to be the prologue to the novel, but then I changed it completely.  Since it fits with the theme of the month — Indoors and Outdoors — I thought it might be fun to share it. I’ve expanded it …

Halloween and a Forgotten Scene: Darcy & Elizabeth visit Lady Catherine

Elizabeth and Darcy Halloween scene

I started writing a Pride and Prejudice Halloween scene for this blog earlier this month, and then, as I was sorting out some of my older folders, I discovered a prologue I had written and forgotten about completely! I had a folder full of notes and possible directions the story could take, but had no …

An Ill-fated Romance and a Forgotten Royal: Princess Charlotte Augusta

As you probably know by now, I love visiting National Trust properties. One of my favorite places to go is Claremont, near Esher. It’s an easy 20 minute drive from where I live, and it’s one of my go-to places when I want to go walking without having to drive too far. The grounds are …
