Traces of Magic: Happy Release Day!! + Giveaway!

Hello friends! I’m looking out of the window at the leaves turning color and I’m reminded that autumn is coming. Where did the summer go?  Yikes!  I suppose I was too busy working on Traces of Magic to notice the transition!

I’m a summer baby, which is probably why summer is my favorite season.  Every year,  when autumn arrives, I cling to it like Winnie the Pooh clings to his flying balloon. A large hedgehog and a small hedgehog with autumn leaves. A quotation from Persuasion by Jane Austen about how autumn has been described by every poet. I love the long, bright days, and I don’t want them ever to end.  I hold on as tightly as possible to what Jane Austen calls “the last smiles of the year”.

Pathetic, I know.

But then October arrives, with its orange hues, and thoughts of magic pumpkins and Halloween creatures, and I realize autumn isn’t so bad after all. And it seems like a good time of the year to publish a Pride and Prejudice variation with a magical theme. 😉

So here we are again, with a new Jane Austen fantasy variation.  Book 3 of Mr. Darcy’s Magic is the penultimate book in the series. One more to go! At least, that’s the plan. Having said that, I have quite a few threads to tie up. It’s going to be a challenge fitting it all into one book. I’m determined to do it, so wish me luck!

For now, I’m just really happy to present my latest book, and I’m hoping you’ll be happy as well!!

To celebrate, I’m having a giveaway. TWO e-book copies of Traces of Magic are up for grabs. Please leave a message telling me what you liked about the first two books in the series for a chance to win Traces of Magic.

And now — I present to you: Traces of Magic: A Pride and Prejudice Variation.

Traces of Magic Cover A woman in a white Regency gown with a gold sash looks over a balustrade at a purple magical burst. Book two of Mr. Darcy's Magic, a Pride and Prejudice Variation

Description

As long as she lived, Elizabeth would never forget the look on Darcy’s face when he saw her coming towards him.

Elizabeth and Darcy are finally settling down at the Netherfield Royal Mages Academy when a mysterious flare of magic sends them scampering to discover what is happening. But they are soon left with more questions than answers.

Why has Elizabeth’s sister Lydia gone missing? Who is the mysterious gentleman they encountered at an inn? And more importantly, why have they been summoned to London to attend to the Prince Regent himself?

As Elizabeth and Darcy grapple with unsettling revelations, they find themselves caught up in a web of deception that could lead to the downfall of the Kingdom itself.

Traces of Magic is the third book in the Magical Mr. Darcy series. It can be read as a complete, standalone story, although it might be useful to read the earlier books.

Available on Kindle Unlimited and on paperback.

Don’t forget to answer the question for a chance to win. 😀

I love how the relationship grows and matures, when they started out with such disconnect and lack of understanding. How their low expectations of one another turn into trust and reliance.

    1. Yes, and in this one they need to have each other’s backs. Glad you enjoyed that aspect of it, Anna W.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series. This book is more family orientated and of course it concerns Lydia’s impulsiveness! Poor Darcy and Elizabeth are torn two ways, luckily Mr Bennet and Mary lend a hand. I loved how they managed to work together and each played their part. I can’t wait for book four and Darcy and Elizabeth finally being able to relax into their marriage. Another winner. Thank you.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, Glynis. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it!! 😉

I loved the last 2 books and re-read them. I’m very excited for this one. My favorite parts are when I can get more emotion out of Darcy like when he wakes up and tries to negotiates an unconscious Elizabeth to wake up or in the second one where she is found. Not to mention the angst of having to wait to be truly married because of the war. I’m looking forward to reading this one to see what happens next and to get this one from Darcy’s perspective is exciting.

    1. Thank you for your detailed explanation, Melissa. It’s really helpful to hear what aspects of the novel you enjoyed because it helps me as I write the next one. 🙂

What a wonderful way to start the day! A new book in this series is finally published! This is my favorite Pride and Prejudice series and I have loved how ODC meets and gets to know and respect one another as persons as well as mages. Can’t wait to read them, so I hope to get lucky!

    1. tgruy — so glad you’ve enjoyed seeing them develop as mages. 😀

I have book one in my TBR pile, which, unfortunately (fortunately?), is huge! I’ll probably save it until I get all of them so I can read the series all in a row. I’m looking forward to it!

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Linda — I know what you mean about TBR lists. Book 4 still on the way…

So excited that book 3 is here!!! I can’t wait to read it. I have enjoyed the layers of relationships and that D&E are finally learning to trust and support one another and can’t wait to see where this story leads us.

    1. Thank you, Glory! I’m happy to hear it.

In Dangerous Magic, I liked the magic bonding, Darcy’s other bonds, and the challenges Darcy and Elizabeth had in their own bonding. In Threads of Magic, I liked watching Darcy stand up for his wife in public and learn to better communicate with her at home.

This is a great magic series, and I look forward to reading Book 3. Congratulations on the new release!

    1. Thank you, TC! Thank you for being specific. I’m glad you enjoy those aspects of the books.

As a fan of P&P and the fantasy genre, I love when these two elements are combined especially when magic is involved as that’s my favorite part of fantasy.

    1. It’s such a fun combination. I’m really glad there are a lot more P&P fantasy variations now.

Thank you for the inclusion of fantasy themes into JAFF.
I enjoy the dialogue and respective relationships of Fitzwilliam & Darcy and Darcy and Elizabeth. But I also enjoy the vibe of the encapsulated training location fighting a powerful invading force; a very Ender’s Game sense of time, place, and mission.

    1. Adelle — I loved the comparison!!! I didn’t think of it that way 🙂

  1. Congratulations on the new release, Monica! I see that the covers for the 2 earlier books are slightly changed from when they were first published. I guess that you aren’t satisfied with it until they are perfect in your eyes.

I have not read both books in the series yet but I’m willing to give it a try since I love The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series. Normally I would wait until the series is completed before starting on it because I don’t like cliffhanger endings.
