Congrats and please drop me a line at www.joanastarnes.co.uk to let me know which email address you’d like me to use (or perhaps I might use the one attached to your comment?)

Many thanks to everyone who joined me on the blog tour. It was wonderful to read your lovely messages and chat with you!

If you missed any of the posts, you can find them here:

A ride in the rain

A fiery Mr Darcy

A very un-Hunsford-like proposal

Breaking the wall of silence

Ask Me Anything!

Murphy’s Law – the JAFF version

and

The other romantic excerpt

(a.k.a. Turning up the heat)

Perhaps I’d better rein in on the spoilers (hmm, I wonder, have I spilt too many beans already?). Still, I hope you’ll be pleased to hear that, for all the challenges ahead (not least a perplexing and sometimes downright infuriating husband) Elizabeth has lost nothing of her courage and determination as she tries to make sense of him, her feelings and her new life, and makes mistakes, and learns from them.

‘… she would not cling to her resentments like a headstrong little girl. Little girls grew up, acquired a degree of sense and employed their wilfulness for better aims. Such as discovering the roots of their difficulties, and not resting until they were dug out.’ (Twists of Fate © 2021 Joana Starnes).

She hasn’t lost her sense of humour either, and for instance has no qualms about donning a ludicrous cap (a present from her mamma, of course 😀 ) in order to make a teasing point in response to a flare of marital disagreement. (That scene was inspired by the lucky find below. The only problem is that the lady looks a little too placid, so please picture Elizabeth’s mischievous smile instead, and her arched brow under all those frills).

Nicolas François Dun: ‘Portrait of a Woman’ (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Public Domain Open Access)

As for Mr Darcy, he makes several excellent decisions and few shockingly bad ones, he relies too much on his own judgement, he keeps silent and broods (of course he broods; he could teach brooding as an art form 😀 ), and yet he does what he does best: he falls ardently in love.

I hope you’ll enjoy our favourite couple’s latest adventure.

Happy reading, and please buckle up: some of the twists might not be what you’d expect!

Congratulations to the winners. It’s good I have your book already. Something positive! I love to read your books. After the extremly wheather in our area in germany we have to dry our cellar rooms until christmas. I’m so happy that I have so many books on my kindle.
Good luck with your new book!

    1. I’ve seen the devastation on the news… So sorry to hear that your area was affected too, Simone! I hope you and your friends and family are safe!

You did promise us “besottedness” – and you definitely came thru! Absolutely loved it! The “twists” seemed to pace themselves throughout the story and then came pouring in at the end. Wonderful! I especially appreciated the Jane twist – my preferences lie with that storyline (trying not to give a spoiler.) Congratulations!

    1. I’m so happy you loved it, Mary! Thank you!! It’s so wonderful to know that you found enough besottedness, and that you were pleased with the Jane twist. Funnily enough, it wasn’t meant to go that way. (Trying hard not to give a spoiler either. Maybe I should email you). Have a lovely weekend and thanks so much for stopping by to let me know what you thought of it!

  1. A very belated congratulations on your book launch, Joana! It’s always lovely when I wake up and find one of your books has been magically delivered to my e-reader! 😀

    1. Thanks so much, Christina! I love this kind of magic too :)) Can’t wait for your next!! I’ll savour ‘The Year in Between’ in the meantime, and re-read the Remedy… which I adore.
Have a great summer and happy writing!
