New Release – Gentlemen of Honor

Hello All!

It’s Summer again (the person, not the season). I have a second new release for you.

Some of you may be thinking, how can that be? You just released Dishonorable Gentlemen last week.

Well, I’ve been hoarding manuscripts, like a Book Dragon, but not because I didn’t want to share. Rather, because these two books are a duology and I knew (by which I mean, I hoped) that once you read book one, you wouldn’t want to wait to read book two. So I waited, and waited, and wrote, and wrote, until I had both ready. My very kind editors, and then beta readers, then read both books back to back. They all seemed okay with that, so hopefully you will be, too.

As before, below is the link to book two once now, at the top of the blog post, and it will appear again at the bottom. As an aside, Gentlemen of Honor is on sale at a reduced price until Wednesday the 9th. I know that’s not much warning, as this is Tuesday the 8th, for which I apologize.

VOLUME TWO of The Bennet Gang Duology: Gentlemen of Honor

Elizabeth Bennet is giving up her secret life as a highwayman in favor of her next great adventure…being courted by Fitzwilliam Darcy. But when new guests arrive at Netherfield Park, they bring danger and tumult with them. Can Elizabeth and her sisters contend with the evil Hargreaves while still successfully navigating matters of the heart, or will they be forced to choose between love, honor, and family?

Fitzwilliam Darcy is enamored with Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Unfortunately, making her mistress of his beloved estate, Pemberley, would require embracing a scandal that could ruin the Darcy name. If he could make her see that she must give up her mad ways, she could be his. That is their only recourse, their single path to happiness, because it couldn’t possibly be the case that he needs to change.

Gentlemen of Honor is the high-stakes conclusion to The Bennet Gang Duology. This fast-paced, action-filled Pride and Prejudice Variation finds your favorite characters faced with all new reasons to be uncertain in love. If you take delight in Summer Hanford’s distinct, entertaining tales, enjoy Gentlemen of Honor today.

THE MAP

This post, I’m not giving you a sample chapter. That’s because anything I give you from Book Two will be a spoiler when it comes to Book One. Instead, here is the map. It’s included in the front of both the eBook and Print versions of the book, but even if you’ve read them (especially if you did so on your Kindle), you may not have seen the map. Kindles tend to start you off right at Chapter One.

Hopefully you like the map, and it coincides at least somewhat with your vision of the corner of Hertfordshire in which The Bennet Gang takes place. Maybe (hopefully) it even looks like you’ve always thought the area around Meryton does in Pride and Prejudice, except with Dovemark where Lucas Lodge should be (there’s a reason for that in the books, never fear).

Those of you who know that my husband did the covers for The Bennet Gang novels (I’m very proud of him!) may be wondering who made the map. Well, my sister-in-law drew the buildings for us, and my husband put together the rest. They make a good team, if I do say so myself.

I’d love to hear what you think of the map, and I truly hope you either have already read The Bennet Gang Duology, or are further enticed to give it a try. To paraphrase one reader, ‘Once you get over the ridiculousness of the premise, they are excellent books.’ To which I say, ‘I’ll take it!’ After all, we all need a rediculous premise now and again. Life can be far too serious.

Have a great day, with lots of laughter and a considerable amount of joy!

What a beautiful map! I bought the books but I have not the time to read them. I hope easter gives me the possibility. I have to make easter decorations with a 2 year old girl and two toddlers, yes twins, climbing around. My son did a good job to let his mother forget other things. But back to the books. I hope it’s funny like you wrote in your newsletter. I look forward to it!

    1. A two year old and two toddlers? Will there be dye involved? I can see that getting very messy!

Yes, there are definitely funny moments. Of course, there are serious ones as well, but I have a feeling everything will turn out okay.

I hope the decorations come out well (I’m sure they will).

    Dear Author,

Thank you for the news. I have to ask you, however, having seen the title, “Gentlemen of Honor,” if you are opposed to using British spelling in JAFF. I have to confess that reading “Honor” came as a shock to me. I also write JAFF, and am an American. I always try to not shock anyone with more recent terminology (like OK), and use British spelling.

    1. Dear Isabelle,

I wouldn’t dare attempt to use British spelling. I have to admit, spelling is not my forte. It’s all I can do to succeed with American spelling, which is what I grew up with. I cannot imagine the confusion I would wallow in with British spelling.

I completely understand if American spelling ruins JAFF for you, and certainly don’t hold it against you if you don’t want to read them. Not every book is for everyone, after all. That’s one of the reasons we can have so very many books, and more books is a wonderful thing.

I wish you all the best in your writing (and commend you for ability to spell words in multiple ways),

I do like the map, such a good idea! I haven’t read these yet but they are on my kindle ready and waiting. Im one of those who likes to read a continuing series in one go (it’s a memory thing I’m afraid 🙄) so I’m pleased I could buy them together and at the reduced price. Thank you so much 🥰

    1. Thank you for getting them, Glynis! I really hope you enjoy them when you do get to them 🙂

Love the map. Adults can appreciate illustrations too. However, if this map is supposed to be true to not only this variation but also the original, Netherfield is 3 miles from longbourn but only a mile ish to meryton? If the map is accurate, then Elizabeth should have stayed on the road instead of crossing fields to get to Jane when she was sick? Also thought longbourn and Netherfield shared a property border? Course if the properties go back deeper than Lucas lodge they would meet. Maybe just some more details or zoom out?

I love your newsletters, they are so funny sometimes: “…the person, not the season…” 😂
It’s great that you already finished the second book, as I don’t like waiting for the next part of a series.
I’m going to read them both after my current book. I’m totally in the mood for a ridiculous premise!

      1. I’m so glad you enjoy my newletters 🙂 I’m very fond of my mailing list (as I’m sure you know as you’re on it). You guys are the best!

    1. It did get kind of smushed, didn’t it? I admit that I had it much wider, but I wanted it to fit on a page in a print book. I probably should have left it spread out. Ah well. Maybe the next time I’ll put it on its side and make ‘north’ be to the right, so to speak. That could work? Or do I mean that north would have to become left? I’m already confused…. Maybe maps just aren’t my forte any more than spelling is and I should avoid them 🙂

Just wanted to check to if my imagination was visualizing correctly 🤷‍♀️ I still like the map, especially the houses.

    1. Thank you. My sister in law drew them for me 🙂
