I have a new book out! A Curative Touch is available in Kindle and Kindle Unlimited, paperback coming soon. It’s a short novel of about 210 pages. This is my first book told completely in first person, and it was super fun to write.
It starts with Elizabeth’s point of view, but once the Netherfield party arrives, it alternates between her and Darcy. Telling everything from inside his head was hilarious. He’s quite wry, that one.
In this book, Elizabeth is born with a special ability. She does not know about this at first, and there are plenty of twists and turns along the way as she learns how to best use her gift. Here’s an excerpt:
My father suspected something was afoot, but he was too indolent to investigate it seriously. I would catch him watching me with a gimlet eye sometimes, but I pretended nothing was the matter. I would tell him one day—it felt wrong keeping such a secret from him, but I had promised my mother and as I grew older, I understood why she wished to keep it a secret. It was not so long ago that women were burned on stakes for lesser acts of strangeness, and she wished to keep me safe.
My mother had her faults, and I was not always her favorite child, but she was not a cruel woman. She would do almost anything to protect her children, and it turned out this extended to other innocents as well…
I hope you check out A Curative Touch! (Click the cover to be taken to Amazon)
I’d love to know what you think about stories told in first person in historic settings. And dual narratives. And a little paranormal twist in your JAFF. Basically, I want to know everything!

This is my review on goodreads and Amazon:
How I loved this book!
I am P&P addicted and so I forget many stories, but I guess this will be one I shall remember.
I felt so touched and thinking back on the book I still get soft feelings.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Congratulations on your new release! I got it via KU and loved it.
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it!
Congratulation on your new book! I will keep this book in mind when next I go book-shopping on amazon!
I hope you like it!
Yeah! I really enjoy your variation “stuff!” I have already downloaded and hope to get it read today. Thank you for sharing your creativity with The Fandom.
Hugs,
Betty Campbell Madden
Thanks, Betty!
I read it on KU and loved this story as I also loved the two that were before this in your Unusual Tales collection. I have added it to my buy list.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like the collection! It was a bit of a risk, so it makes me really happy that it’s so well received.
Looks like a creative, intriguing variation! Congrats on the new release, Elizabeth!
Thank you!
Usually I don’t like stories told in first person that much, but when the POV alternates between different characters, it’s a lot more interesting because you get the whole picture.
I love paranormal twists in JAFF, since they make the stories unique.
I’m really looking forward to reading this variation!
I hope you enjoy it! Writing in first person has been fun and different because it allows me to be in the character’s head so much more than I normally would. I don’t know if I will do it a lot, but I’m enjoying it so far.
Loved this and gave it 5 stars in my review on Amazon and Goodreads (as CEK). Fascinating and much-to-be-desired paranormal ability and beautiful writing, as always. No rweal preference for first-person vs 3rd or epistolary, etc – just good writing and editing, which you always have. Thank you for all the entertainment.
Thank you!!! That’s very kind of you to say. ♥️
Elizabeth Bennet is not the only Elizabeth with a magic touch. Sweet read.
Thank you!!!
I am about 2/3 the way through “A Curative Touch” and I can’t make up my mind whether I like this one better than “Meet Your Mark” or not. So far both of them are worthy of 5 stars! Re. writing a book in the first person, wasn’t a large part of “Ship to Shore” written that way? ….another of your books I rate a 5 star! Someone mentioned writing in an epistolary style. I’ve only read a few P&P variations written that way and enjoyed every one of them. I have no pretense of being a writer but I have a feeling they might be more difficult to write. I don’t recall if you have done one like that or not – but if not, if there’s anyone up to that challenge, it would be you!!!
Ship to Shore had a lot of letters, so they felt first person, but technically the story was told in third person. I am in the middle of another story in first person and I am really enjoying it. I’ve done it in short stories before, but just now getting into full length books.
You’ll have to let me know which one comes down as your favorite at the end. ☺️
Good luck with your new release. I did borrow this through KU but have not yet read it. I am looking forward to doing so.
I hope you like it!
