Traces of Magic: A Pride and Prejudice Fantasy Variation
As long as she lived, Elizabeth would never forget the look on Darcy’s face when he saw her coming towards him.
Elizabeth and Darcy are finally settling down at the Netherfield Royal Mages Academy when a mysterious flare of magic sends them scampering to discover what is happening. But they are soon left with more questions than answers.
Why has Elizabeth’s sister Lydia gone missing? Who is the mysterious gentleman they encountered at an inn? And more importantly, why have they been summoned to London to attend to the Prince Regent himself?
As Elizabeth and Darcy grapple with unsettling revelations, they find themselves caught up in a web of deception that could lead to the downfall of the Kingdom itself.
Traces of Magic is the third book in the Magical Mr. Darcy series. It can be read as a complete, standalone story, although it might be useful to read the earlier books.

So when she is accused of endangering the Royal Mages through her reckless actions, she no longer knows who to trust. Even the gentleman she loves is taking their side. It seems the only person who believes her is the captive French mage who is imprisoned in the cellar at Netherfield.
Meanwhile, Fitzwilliam Darcy is willing to fight to the death to defend Elizabeth, if only she would stop getting herself into trouble. Why does she always have to break the rules? And why does even her sister Jane cause him so many problems?

Fortune and Felicity
In this Pride & Prejudice variation, Elizabeth and Darcy have a second chance to get things right. Will they be able to come together this time, or will pride intervene yet again?
Seven years after Darcy’s disastrous proposal, Darcy is in need, not of a wife, but of a governess for his young daughter. Imagine his surprise when he discovers Elizabeth Bennet on the list of possible candidates provided by the employment agency. The question is, should he take her on as a governess, or would he be playing with fire?
Elizabeth Bennet is forced by her reduced circumstances to take on a position. However, when Mr. Darcy invites her for an interview, she is embarrassed and humiliated. How could she possibly live under the same roof as the man she had rejected so strongly seven years ago?
Whatever decision she makes, there will be a high price to pay… one way or the other.
Mysterious Mr. Darcy
The events of this Pride and Prejudice ‘what-if’ occur three years later than the original, but before the Netherfield Ball. Mr. Darcy receives a visit at his isolated manor in Cornwall. It is Charles Bingley, and he is there to ask for a favor… He needs help with his new estate, Netherfield. As for Miss Elizabeth Bennet, there is nothing she likes more than a laugh – except for a mystery. From the moment she first encounters Mr. Darcy, she senses he is hiding something. But the more she tries to find out about who he is, the more evasive he becomes. However, Elizabeth soon turns her attention to someone else. As Mrs. Bennet points out, Mr. Darcy is a nobody, and Elizabeth needs to marry someone who can provide for her and her sisters.
Meanwhile, Mr. Darcy doesn’t want anyone to know about the scandal that haunts him from the past, and he certainly doesn’t need someone like Miss Bennet, who asks him questions and tries to slip him up. Fortunately, he is more than equal to the task of putting her off. What he doesn’t expect is that before he knows it, he finds himself longing to tell her the truth.
Note: Mysterious Mr. Darcy is not a mystery. It is a ‘what-if’ in which Mr. Darcy has to deal with the consequences of his past, a past that will change the shape of his future.
THE DARCY NOVELS TRILOGY

That is, until he falls under the spell of Elizabeth Bennet and surprises himself by blurting out a proposal to her like a moon struck youth. Stung to the quick by her rejection, his pride in tatters, and left with no possibility that she will ever love him, Darcy determines to put all thoughts of Elizabeth behind him. But not even Town with its boundless opportunities for amusement can keep the image of Elizabeth Bennet from pursuing him everywhere he goes.
By the time Darcy leaves Town to travel up to Pemberley, he has learned one thing. There is only one way of overcoming Miss Bennet’s bewitching hold over him and Darcy is desperate enough to try it. The solution is to get married. And this time, he is not going to choose a wife by allowing his emotions to lead him by the nose.
His choice will be entirely rational…
In Volume I of this witty Pride and Prejudice variation, Monica Fairview traces Mr. Darcy’s journey as he struggles to come to terms with the upheaval Elizabeth Bennet has caused in his life…and his heart.
Note: This novel is the first book in a trilogy and continues in Mr. Darcy’s Challenge.

But when a chance encounter prompts Darcy to propose again to Elizabeth before he has rescued Lydia, his plans go horribly wrong.
Everything tells him he ought to give up, but can he? Pride and love are at loggerheads as he struggles to choose between his mind … and his heart.

Reviews
“Surprises, romance, humor and drama abound in a way never before seen through a filtered derivation of Austen’s imagination. Monica Fairview has crafted an interesting and compelling story which can stand on its own, regardless of classification. Steampunk Darcy is a rousing, amazing adventure, one that breaks new ground in Austenesque fiction and does not fail to entertain.” ~Laura Hartness, Calico Critic
“I was pleasantly surprised how Ms. Fairview was able to bring an Austen story to life in a Steampunk setting. The use of Wickham’s character is very creative. If you love Austenesque fiction with a little creativity and flare, I highly recommend Steampunk Darcy.” ~ Kendal, Kinx’s Book Nook
“This is what Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice might have looked like if it was set in the future … the spirit of the Pride and Prejudice story is there married with the author’s own storytelling, characters, plot development, and world building. Personally, I was impressed with the world she made along with what seemed like character blends, character role reversals, and even new characters….
All in all, it was a wonderful reading experience that I think intrepid Austenesque fans should not pass up and it would have appeal to a wider audience of Steampunk and Dystopian romance lovers.” ~Sophia Rose, Delighted Reader
“A wild steampunk adventure story with pirates, industrial espionage, rebellious teenage sisters, scheming relatives, romance, and misdirections set in a post-ecological apocalyptic world. There’s also clandestine research into the past. There’s some witty and snappy dialog as well as an intriguing cast of characters … in a remarkably different future world.” ~Gayle Surrette, SFRevu
“An exhilarating ride! The characters were well-drawn, complex, and engaging; I especially enjoyed our spirited heroine and her battles with the officious Boss! … I greatly enjoyed was searching for the subtle parallels and nods to Pride and Prejudice. Some were less obvious than others – there was a great social divide, a rejected offer, a sister needing to be rescued, a Caroline Bingley and George Wickham character stirring up some trouble, and an abundance of pride and stubbornness.” ~Meredith, Austenesque Reviews
