Celebrating Threads of Magic release with a Giveaway🎉!!!

Hello Everyone! I’m very excited to be celebrating the release of Threads of Magic here on Austen Variations as part of my blog tour.

Well, my second book in my series Mr. Darcy’s Magic is now out, and I’m already working on the next one. Some of you have been asking how many books there are going to be. It’s a crucial question, but I can’t yet give you a definitive answer. So far, my muse is telling me there will be four books, but who knows? Muses are very fickle things, and I generally live by their dictates. Until now, the muses have been good to me, so I can’t complain, but they like to play havoc with my plans. They like to play around and take my books in directions that take me completely by surprise.

All I can say is that I am roughly following the timeline of Pride and Prejudice, so the relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth will develop over a period of almost a year. What you can expect is a slow-burn romance as they gradually discover each other’s strengths and flaws.

In the magical context of Threads of Magic, where danger is always dogging the Royal Mages as they try to find a way to defeat their enemies, learning to trust doesn’t come easy. Sometimes Elizabeth and Darcy get so caught up in the uncertainties around them, they have to dig very deeply into themselves to find it.

While I can promise there are no cliff-hangers in the individual books in the series, Darcy and Elizabeth’s relationship blossoms very slowly, and their road to true love is full of bumps, uneven cobblestones, and unfortunate events. But love will surely prevail, and that’s all that matters ultimately.

Threads of Magic Description

In a magical Regency England, two powerful magicians strive to find a balance between love and duty as they confront enemies who might well be their closest friends.

Elizabeth Bennet may be a heroine, but by defying some of the most powerful mages in England, she has made enemies who will stop at nothing to embroil her in scandal.

So when she is accused of endangering the Royal Mages through her reckless actions, she no longer knows who to trust. Even the gentleman she loves is taking their side. It seems the only person who believes her is the captive French mage who is imprisoned in the cellar at Netherfield.

Meanwhile, Fitzwilliam Darcy is willing to fight to the death to defend Elizabeth, if only she would stop getting herself into trouble. Why does she always have to break the rules? And why does even her sister Jane cause him so many problems?

Join us in this magical Jane Austen Regency variation. Set mostly in Meryton, with familiar beloved characters from Pride and Prejudice, you will once again be captivated by Elizabeth and Darcy as they struggle to find true love against the backdrop of England’s war with Napoleon.

Threads of Magic continues the bewitching tale of a forced marriage between two powerful mages. The novel picks up after Fitzwilliam Darcy has told Elizabeth that he is in love with her, but are the differences between them too difficult to overcome?

Since this is the second book of a series, there is more to come. Experience the slow-burn romance developing between Elizabeth and Darcy in this magical adventure spanning several novels. It is a standalone novel without cliff-hangers, but it is best read as part of a series.

Dangerous Magic

For those of you who haven’t yet had the chance to read the first book, welcome to the wizarding world of Jane Austen’s magic! I would suggest reading Dangerous Magic before you start on Threads of Magic. You don’t want to miss the first time Elizabeth Bennet meets the husband she is compelled to marry. And you don’t want to miss gradually immersing yourself into Elizabeth and Darcy’s magical Regency world.

To celebrate my release of Mr. Darcy’s Magic 2, I am giving away TWO copies of Threads of Magic.

For a chance to win, please leave a comment below, or tell me why you think Pride and Prejudice and magic are a good match. I will announce the winners on February 15 on Fantasy Reads for Austen Fans

Meanwhile, you can join me on my Threads of Magic Blog Tour for other chances to win.

With the addition of magic you can explore a world greater than the original and I think they can talk a little more freely than what traditional roles of women & men were at the time. This forces them to see each other in different ways and can be very interesting to see how it plays out. With this story line I hope to see what their kids will be like 😉

    1. You make a good point, Glory. Contact between woman and men was very restricted in Regency times. The Royal Mages have strict rules as well, especially for unmarried females. That is why Elizabeth has to marry Darcy. Still, if they possess powerful magic magic, women do have a different type of interaction with men. It’s certainly food for thought, Glory!

I am looking forward to reading this and the first book! I love how the magic element forces Darcy and Elizabeth to marry early (one of my favourite storylines) and will enjoy seeing how they learn to love one another. I do hope Elizabeth isn’t TOO stubborn and Darcy TOO arrogant đŸ€žđŸ» But no doubt I will see. Good luck with your muse? 😉

    1. Glynis, I’m afraid they both have those flaws, but of course they will find ways to deal with them 😉 Thanks for your good wishes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series and look forward to this one. Jane Austen’s writing was magical in itself, taking her readers then and now into a world both familiar and different, creating characters so intriguing that we remain fascinated by them more than 200 years later. So it makes perfect sense that a modern author would explore that world through the lens of a different kind of magic. As with Austen’s original stories, you deal with conflict, with questions of good and evil, with struggles in the face of unexpected events. Of course Austen and magic go together.

    1. So true. And don’t forget that she was one of the first authors to depict what has become our concept of the romantic hero: the tall handsome stranger who is often out of reach for the heroine.

You have worded it so well, Diana. I couldn’t agree more! 🙂

I cannot wait to read the next book, Threads of Magic. I love the fact that Darcy is saving Elizabeth from her actions. Their slow burn of developing love is so true in P&P also. P&P is magical to me so it translates so well into fantasy. Elizabeth and Darcy will always slow burn in any genre. Thank you for the giveaway.

    1. You’re welcome, Eva, and yes, that’s what I’ve found. P&P takes us into a different world and a different era, and adding magic just seems an extension of that.

Magic and P&P together? First of all superstition, though tamed a bit since a century earlier, was still prevalent. Science was awakening, but diseases and treatment rudimentary. So, desperate people turned to “magical” cures. And then, isn’t the love between ODC magical? It is Cinderella like, a fairy tale more realistic, but highly unlikely for the times. Magic must have been in the air when J. A. wrote the original.
Thank you for the chance to win a free book!

    1. Oh, yes. That is something many people tend to forget. ‘Science’ as we know it now was still in its infancy, and people still lived in a world of folk lore especially in the countryside. You only have to look at Romantic poetry to see how thin the partition was between the real and unreal even in the Victorian period. So definitely, ‘magic’ was in the air, and Jane Austen certainly knew how to weave it so that it enthralls us even today.
      A pleasure, Meg.

I love the premise of this series as magic always makes things better. I prefer fantasy elements as it’s nice to be taken away from the reality of our world for a little while.

    1. Sigh. Yes, we do need a little bit of magic in our lives these days don’t we, DarcyBennett?

I love the first book so I’ve been expecting this one and I’ve been reading all the excerpt! I think that Pride and Prejudice are a perfect compliment to magic mainly because of the characters, Elizabeth and Darcy are too powerful and smart to be otherwise!

    1. I’m happy to hear it, Barbara. I agree that it’s easy to see Elizabeth and Darcy as figures that wield magic because that’s what they do!

I’m currently reading Threads of Magic on KU and so far, it’s been as awesome as Dangerous Magic. 😊👍
I could read this series forever, so I keep my fingers crossed that your muse will tell you to continue the series indefinitely. 😉

P&P and Magic is a perfect combination:
I love the Characters from P&P, but if every story you read follows canon too closely, it gets boring. That can’t happen in this magical setting – there are so many exciting and dangerous events. And the different magical talents underline the character traits of my favorite characters perfectly.

Thank you so much for the chance to win a copy!

    1. Oh, how lovely of you to say so, Sabrina! I would certainly love to keep the series going for a while… 😊😊

I do think introducing magic gives us a slightly different perspective of Darcy and Elizabeth. As long as they remain true to themselves.

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of Bk 2, and I’m excited to hear there will be more and your loose plan for them without spoilers. I kind of think Pride and Prejudice goes well with just about everything, actually.

Before I started reading tons of JAFF, I read a lot of YA fantasy with or to preview for my sons. I still like to read books they recommend, but I don’t read magic or fantasy books as much anymore on my own. I miss Darcy and Elizabeth when I read more than 1-2 “other” books between Austen and JAFF. It is wonderful to get a whole new world (such as magic) along with the familiar (JAFF).

    1. It is a loose plan, but as I said, I have to follow the muses. That’s great that you get to share your reading with your sons, and wonderful that they read.

I’m glad you think the two worlds fit together, TC.

    1. Thank you, Linda!

  1. I loved the first book, and am excited to read the second! Please enter me.

    1. You’re entered, Brenda!!

  2. I roared through the first book in just a few days, and I expect that the second will be much like it. I am so excited about reading this second book in the series. And Darcy and Elizabeth and magic? They are a magical couple from the very start, so mixing magic in with their story makes perfect sense to me, LOL!!

Thank you so much, Monica, for this wonderful giveaway; I am crossing my fingers and hoping hard!! 😀

Congratulations on the release of another amazing Austen variation!!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

    1. Thank you, Susanne!! And yes, D & E are a magical couple.

Very kind of you to say so, SamH!!! 🙂

  3. I think P&P and magic is a good fit because it doesn’t distract readers from immersing themselves to understand the plot. This is because mages are humans too. If there are dragons or fairies, I will have to imagine how the creatures look like based on the authors’ descriptions. Thus I can’t really focus on the stories since it is quite a distraction for me.

Btw, congratulations on the launch of Book 2, Monica!

Thank you very much, Luthien! Yes, I do think centering the story on humans make fantasy more relatable, though books like Harry Potter do manage to combine the two very well. 🙂

Not sure how to answer, but there’s just something magical about P & P. Adding more magic seems to escalate their love story even further especially when there is raw/intuition-driven magic vs formal magic. Looking forward to this next segment of their magical story
