Adrian Lukis, the definitive Mr Wickham for many TV viewers, returned to the role of George Wickham live on stage this September in Bath and Stamford. Adrian reprised his beloved (oh go on, you know you do!) role in Being Mr Wickham, a brand new play written by Adrian and me, that lifts the sheets on exactly what Jane Austen’s most roguish gent has been up to in the last thirty years.
Our sell-out audiences have loved the show and we’re keen to bring it to as wide an audience as possible. Adrian and I have had such interest in Being Mr Wickham that I’ve established a mailing list so people who want to know more can be the first to hear news about the show or any new dates, not to mention the occasional bit of glorious Georgian news too.
If you’re interested, you can sign up at the link below. We’d love to see Mr Wickham ride again… all over the world!

I bet that would be such a fun show to see!
It’s going down like a storm, which is wonderful. Adrian and I are having a great time:
It would be wonderful if you could put together a North American tour of the play. Congratulations on your success with it so far–sounds wonderful!
We would love to do that, we’re trying to bring it as far and wide as we can!
Come to NY! I would love to see this! 🙂
We would love to! That’s why we set up the list – so we can build interest to bring the show to as wide an audience as possible!
This sounds wonderful! I would love to see it. Congratulations on your success!
Thank you! We’ve got plenty of plans for the future, so fingers crossed!
While not as far-flung, I would suggest that the show would be perfect for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In my experience, although the competition is huge (biggest and best in the world) any show related to Jane Austen performs well. I’m thinking maybe something like the Assembly Rooms in George Street, where Rebecca Vaughan was a great hit with her one woman show about Mr Wickham’s creator.
Thank you! We were discussing the Edinburgh Festival in the dressing room on Sunday night so you never know what the future might hold. Having never visited Edinburgh though, I feel a trip coming on either way!
I live in the middle of Edinburgh – yes, I am very lucky – and am always glad to hear of potential distinguished visitors. I should add that the Scottish Branch of the Jane Austen Society, which meets most often in Edinburgh or in Dunfermline just over the Forth, would probably be delighted to meet Mr Wickham at any time he chooses . I intend to tell them about the play at the next meeting later this month.
Congratulations Catherine. This sounds like so much fun. I wish I could see it but I’m on the other side of the world.
We hope to bring the show far and wide – fingers crossed!
Any possibility of a DVD?
