Welcome to Day 7 of the Austenesque Advent Calendar! Today’s treat is two Austenesque digital escape rooms. Never done a digital escape room before? No problem! These give instructions along the way.
The first one is The Mystery of the Langley Estate, A Jane Austen-Inspired Escape Room created by the talented folks at Cambridgeshire Libraries. You’ll find many Austen references and puzzles here! Click on the picture to enter the room.
The second is the quick and easy Jane Austen Insult Escape Room created by the Allen County Public Library. Click here to enter and practice your Jane Austen set-downs!
I hope you had fun with these. The creators of these escape rooms deserve all the credit; we’re just sending you to them!

Oh! This looks like fun! I have never done one in real life, nor do I think I would feel comfortable doing so. I hate the feeling of being constrained/confined. But doing one virtually and with a Jane Austen theme certainly is intriguing. I think I will try one of them this evening. I have to get my tree up today!

Good luck with the tree! Ours is up with only unbreakable ornaments, so it looks a bit sparse, but one of the kittens has already gone up it, so better safe than sorry!
I loved it!
Never joined an Escape Room (though I have heard about and a lot! from my sons) so I thught of give it (them) a try!
This was a lovely leisure time spent, and I had fun so thank you for this discovery!

Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve never done a real-life escape room, but doing an Austen escape room puzzle from the comfort of my home is just my speed. 🙂
Oh, this was such fun. I stumbled and staggered and had to restart at one point. I was nearly to the end when I did something wrong and it kicked me out. I had an appointment so I will have to try this again. It really worked the brain. Loved it. Great activity. Blessings.
I’m so perplexed by the first step! The answer seemed obvious, but didn’t work. I have typed in literally every object in the room, but nothing works. Help?

Hi Jennifer! I can see 2 ways you could get stuck. You have to use the exact phrase written in grey on the object, and all answers have to be in all caps. [SPOILER AHEAD] So the answer is GRANDFATHER CLOCK. Hope that helps! Good luck. 🙂
Oh, it has to be in all caps. I didn’t expect that. Got it! Thanks! I’m onto the next step.
Oh brother. I’m stuck again! I swear I’m good at puzzles. Isn’t the second book Letters on Several Subjects?
