Unexpected Gifts! A New Darcy Family Christmas read

The Darcy Family Christmas series continues!

The series starts with the Christmas Darcy and Elizabeth were apart in 1811. The Darcys’ First Christmas and From Admiration to Love covered 1812 and 1813. This installment makes yuletide visits to our favorite couple in 1814 and 1815.

Holidays seem to bring out the best and worst in people. Every family has those relations who make family gatherings especially interesting. The Darcy family is no different. In fact there were so many choices it was difficult to narrow down where to begin.

Lady Catherine, Lady Matlock, Charlotte Collins and who can forget Lydia? That’s why this installment covers two Christmas seasons–one can manage only so many difficult relations at a time.!

These stories will give you all the feels you need for a great holiday read! Find it on Amazon and on Kindle Unlimited.

And if that doesn’t whet your appetite for the holidays, how about this little sampling of traditional Christmas foods of Austen’s Day.

Thank you for the video. I loved this series with Sarah and Graham Beeney. They really threw themselves into the renovations of the Hall, restoring it to its former glory while living in it with their four boys!
I think I’ll stick with my turkey dinner though!

This book is on my wish list. I look forward to reading it. I have to admit… that video was certainly interesting… in a disgusting way. I think my grandparents called that gelatinous meat from the pigs head… souse meat or hog’s head cheese. Nothing was wasted back in the day. Every part of the pig was used in someway. Every fall they slaughtered pigs when the weather turned cold. They also had a smoke house where they cured hams, bacon, shoulder, and such. It was another time. We are so separated from our foods many have no idea where their food comes from. I heard a story where a family was traveling and pasted a dump where their child could see cans of evaporated milk and called out… ‘look… a cow’s nest.’ They told that story with a straight face… I found it hard to believe such a thing could happen. It was still hilarious. Blessings, have a blessed Christmas. Stay safe and healthy.

I loved that video, hilarious trying to cook in that gorgeous Georgian gown. Really grossed me out though, or parts of it did. I ate ‘souse’ as a child (head cheese) before I found out what was in it. I had what lots of people would call gross, an adventurous taste for food, but not really because plenty of people grew up with grandparents who lived on farms or in very rural areas. And my Grandfather hunted and fished and caught frogs and turtles (before that was banned.) And my Grandmother gardened, canned and froze everything. Like a lot of people that lived through WWI and the depression and WWII.

Anyway Maria, thank you for this post, it was very enjoyable. I’ve got Unexpected Gifts sitting on my TBR pile, and because it is a Christmas story I will get to it much sooner than some other new books I’ve picked up.
