Jack Caldwell

Jack Caldwell is an author, amateur historian, professional economic developer, playwright, and like many Cajuns, a darn good cook. His nickname -- The Cajun Cheesehead -- came from his devotion to his two favorite NFL teams: the New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers. (Every now and then, Jack has to play the DVD again to make sure the Saints really won in 2010.)

Always a history buff, Jack found and fell in love with Jane Austen in his twenties, struck by her innate understanding of the human condition. Jack uses his work to share his knowledge of history. Through his characters, he hopes the reader gains a better understanding of what went on before, developing an appreciation for our ancestors' trials and tribulations.

When not writing or traveling with his wife, Barbara, Jack attempts to play golf. A devout convert to Roman Catholicism, Jack is married with three grown sons.

    A Lie Universally Hidden says it is not currently available to buy on Kindle. The price is also $5.99 not $3.99. I would buy this one if I could, though!

    None are purchasable on Amazon. I get an error message on each of the 3 I have attempted to purchase. Grrrhhhh.. we do love technology… when it works!

    1. Hi Ruth, I had that with two I tried to purchase. I shut down my internet browser then opened it back up and the sales went through fine. I hope you get some success 🙂

      I could not buy anything among the sale when I went to Amazon from the links on this site. If I opened Amazon independently in my browser and searched for the title I wanted, I could buy it.

    I’ve tried to buy “An Endeavour to be Worthy”, but it is at the regular price of $5.92 not $2.99. I would love to get this one since I have most of the others.

    A fine joke and a man with a plan won’t download.

    1. It failed for me with Firefox, but worked with MS Edge. Try a different browser.

    2. I had to completely close my browser and re-open it for it to work.

    Thanks for the sale. I already own most of these. Clicking on the buy button does nothing for all 3 books I tried to get (An Unwavering Trust, Mr. Darcy: A Man with a Plan, and The Marriage Bargain). This happened for the previous sale, as well, even though I tried each day of the sale and with different browsers. Any suggestions?

    1. I have has issues with Firefox. Try MS Edge or a different browser.

        Thanks for the idea. I just tried again with Chrome (one of the browsers I’d tried before), and it worked. I have no idea why it didn’t before. This is the browser I always use to buy kindle books.

    For each of the last two years you’ve had this great sale, the links have not worked. I would recommend some testing before sending out these links.

      1. I have used the links on my computer in Safari and Firefox and had no problems. I did have to shut down and restart my browser to get the sale tab to work, though.

    I had my teenage granddaughter show me what a browser was and we downloaded google and then went to Amazon….and it worked!! Thank you for the free books!

    I struggled to actually purchase any of these. I did as L.L. Diamond suggested with closing the browser, and went further rebooting my laptop. Even my personal computer consultant nerd couldn’t figure out how to duplicate one successful purchase after ‘messing around’ with various ways to bring up my browser.

    I finally tried one last idea, which was to open and Amazon window and look up each book I wanted to get and was successful that way.
