12 Days of Christmas – Day 8 & New Release!!!

Happy New Year!

I hope your holiday season has been festive so far and that the New Year will bring wondrous things your way.

I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to see the back of 2019. Here’s to 2020 and a glorious year!

For my Christmas offering, I’m giving away a copy of my new release, Ship to Shore (which includes the recently posted but now deleted short story Swap Meet), plus one more book in my catalog, e-book or audio – reader’s choice.

Ship to Shore

Dodging and weaving her mother’s attempts to get her married off and producing grandbabies as soon as possible, Maggie focuses on teaching and doing fun projects with her students—like sending a box of cards to anonymous soldiers for the holidays. She’s more than a little surprised when the receiving naval officer writes a proper thank-you letter.

The magic ensues when Maggie writes back. She sees her new pen pal as an innocent diversion—until he isn’t.

Lt. Commander F. Hawkins thinks he’s writing to a sweet little old woman. Little does he know that the woman sending him baked goods is going to capture his heart.

In a culture of online dating and hook-ups, Maggie and Hawkins find themselves transported through the old-fashioned act of letter-writing. His steadfast earnestness can’t help but appeal. Her charm and vivacity can’t fail to captivate.

They never stood a chance.

Because these are electronic books, anyone can play – even our international friends – and all you have to do is comment to be entered. Tell me your plans for the new year. Tell me if you went to a fabulous holiday party. Brag about your gifts.  Just comment!

I’ll start – for Christmas, my husband gave me an overly-complicated but absolutely wonderful Cuisinart food processor. I used it to make apple sweet potato latkes. Your turn! 🙂

Oh, I loved ‘Swap Meet.’ That was so creative. I would love a copy of this new release… ebook, please. I received an Amazon Gift Card for Christmas and have been shopping for deals so I can get the most for my Amazon buck. We stayed in trying to avoid exposure to the flu. My husband was sick last Christmas so we didn’t want a repeat of that. My goal this year? I have such a huge TBR pile… I will probably attempt to make a dent into that bad boy. Thanks for the generous giveaway. Good luck to everyone in the drawing. Blessings on the new year and I wish all the best for you and your family.

    1. I’m so glad you liked Swap Meet! Happy New Year to you and yours! Good luck with your TBR pile!

Hi Elizabeth! Just give me the book. You know how badly I want to read it.

Not much to say about the holidays. They are the same as they ever are, and I like it that way.

    1. You are hysterical! Shoot me your email address. 🙂 elizabethadamswrites@gmail.com

I spent Christmas with my parents and sister and had a monetary gift from my parents. New Year’s Eve I spent with friends and we had a proper gift exchange

We’ve been spending a lovely few days over New Year with friends. Hoping for a better 2020 than 2019 which, like you Elizabeth, we’re glad is over.

    1. Honey, I’ve never been so glad to see a year end in my life! We’re also at a friend’s house at the moment – it’s the perfect way to ring in the new year. 🙂

I,too, loved Swap Meet and thought it very clever. Had a very quiet New Year but that’s the way I like it. For Christmas,I was lucky to get some lovely books!!!!📕
Thank you for the giveaway. I like the premise of this book! It sounds intriguing!!!

      1. I’m glad you liked Swap Meet and I hope you like the new one, too!

I have so ambitious plans for the year (publishing and writing included) that I’ll refrain from mentioning them here. (World domination sometimes sounds terrifying to innocent people. I never understood why…)
Anyway, the story sounds very promising (and intriguing!) so I’m looking forward to reading the book.
For the time being the only thing sounding more tempting is those apple sweet potato latkes. I have recently discovered latkes and this variation sounds just…drooling.
    Happy New Year from Greece!

    1. Hahahaha! World domination is not for the faint of heart. Good luck with your big goals! I hope you like the new book. The apple sweet potato latkes are divine – you should definitely try them. 🙂 Happy New Year!

My plan for the New Year is getting back to walking after injuring my leg two months ago! My husband took our boys to see Star Wars today with their Grandparents while I stayed home with our daughter who hates going to the movies. We don’t go out for New Years Eve we just stay in to celebrate with a nice dinner and a movie at home. 🙂

    1. Wow! Good luck getting back into it. I have a bad hip, so I know how hard it can be.

First of all, I will begin by saying that I love reading your stories. Since you launched the comments by saying what your husband gave you for Christmas, I will continue by remarking that my husband gave me a copy of Michaelangelo’s “La Pieta.” I saw the original in the Vatican back in November, and it became my favorite statue. Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you! And wow! That sounds like a fantastic present. Happy New Year!

My resolution is to work through the unread books on my kindle, which is extra hard when I’m so tempted by more new books.
I had a small family party at Christmas but mostly I’m worrying about my daughter and her family who live in north Sydney and praying they stay safe from the fires.
One of my gifts was an Air Fryer but I haven’t used it yet!
I loved Swap Meet and also enjoyed the excerpt from your book. I used to love writing letters and had two pen pals while at school, one from Sweden and one from Cleveland Ohio.

    1. I hope your family is safe!

Air Fryers fascinate me – I don’t understand how they “fry” without oil. ??? Good luck in the giveaway!

Thank you for the giveaway. I‘d love to win this book, because I really like your writing.
I spent the holidays with meeting many friends and family members and with a lot of reading – so I need new material very soon 😉.
Greetings from Germany and a Happy New Year!

    1. Hello to Germany! I spent a few weeks there this summer – it was lovely. Good luck in the giveaway and Happy New Year!

I had a relaxing holiday including lots of reading and some hiking with my husband.

One of my biggest wishes for the new year is to travel to Great Britain for the first time.

    1. I will wish with you! It’s a fantastic place to visit and you should go!

Love your writing, especially your snappy, flirty dialogue! Yes, please enter me in the draw.

By the way, do you have any plans to publish your work as iBooks or in epub format?

As for Christmas, we chose the night of Dec. 25 to introduce our kids to When Harry Met Sally. The teenager laughed as I’d hoped. The tween had many questions.

    1. Hahahahaaaa! I LOVE that movie!

Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy the dialogue – that’s my favorite thing to write. Currently, My books are only on Amazon. Shoot me an email and I’ll see what I can do. elizabethadamswrites@gmail.com

The Houseguest was one of my first JAFF ebooks. Always a favorite.

I was sick for Christmas, but on Monday the 30th I was finally feeling well enough to do a little indulgent Christmas shopping in the post-holiday sales and enjoy some me time. I listened to Christmas music, drove around, and took advantage of some marvelous sales. Basically, it slowed everything down for me and allowed me to enjoy Christmas, even after the fact.

    1. I’m glad you’re feeling better and were able to enjoy the holiday!

I had to laugh out. When I was a girl of 16 years I visited my aunt and we went to an event of open military to visit a Flight Show. Later, I was bored and wrote my adress with a big ‘do you like to write to me’ (Hast du Lust mir zu schreiben? ) and weeks later I got a letter from a young soldier. I had a lot of letter friendships. But know, nobody writes letters today.

    1. Wow! That is so cool! And no, nobody writes letters anymore. Unfortunately…

  1. My husband and I skipped gifts for each other and bought a new mattress- it is heavenly!!! Your book sounds fun, thanks for the giveaway! Happy New Year!

In my opinion, there is nothing quite like seeing family over the holidays. We had 15 people here for New Year’s Day–it was noisy, happy, and so much fun. Two of my favorite gifts were pictures of the weddings of two of my grandchildren which happened in 2019. I cherish your books, so please enter me in the give-away. Happiness to you and yours in 2020.

    1. Sounds like you had a good time! Good luck in the giveaway!

Love your books. Ship to Shore is already on my TBR! My best gift was having my family all together on Christmas. Considering everyone of us is a medical professional, holidays off are not guaranteed. And…My son did the cooking. Win win!

    1. Woohoo! Kids who cook for the win!

Oh no!! I just found this blog and read the first three chapters of Swap meet and was extremely disappointed to notice that that’s all that’s left 😞😞😞. I own and have read (multiple times… I just finished On Equal Ground yesterday after spending most of yesterday with it and read Houseguest prior to it) your ebooks except Green Card and just love them. Where can I grab a copy of the rest of the chapters?? I’m desperate to know what happens!!!

    1. Oh no! I’m so sorry you missed it! It was all here for a couple of weeks, then I had to take the rest down because it’s published with Ship to Shore. It’s a bonus at the end of that book.

If you send me your email address, I’ll send it to you. elizabethadamswrites@gmail.com

I bought myself an Insta-Pot for Christmas. A Pioneer Woman one in fact. I looked at it on my counter for several days until I put it up. Now to use it.

    1. I’ve thought about getting one of those… Happy cooking!

I groused at having to wait for each chapter of Swap Meet, but it began a lovely sense of anticipation for the holidays and I thank you for sharing the fun. I look forward to reading Ship to Shore – all in one go of course! Having all my family together at home was the true gift. My daughters also gave me a robotic vacuum. It does an incredible job and is fast becoming a favorite necessity, so I promptly named her Mrs. Reynolds😉 Happy 2020!

    1. Hahaha! I LOVE the vacuum name! I need one of those.

Naming your vacuum Mrs. Reynolds is great! I have named a lot of my appliances and electronics (My tablet is named Fizzy since I read so many Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth eBooks on it) but I hadn’t thought to name my vacuum. Maybe I will copy you.

Happy New Year and Thank you for this generous giveaway.

For Hanukah my family came over with Chinese Take Out, although we celebrated a day or so after Hanukkah. (There are 13 ways to spell Hanukah)
I don’t really have any resolutions or plans for the new year, just to read as many wonderful books as I can.

    Congratulations on your newest release!

    1. Thank you! And that sounds lovely! I made latkes for the first night of Hanukah. It was my second time making them, but I think they turned out well. 🙂

I bought a surprise birthday present for my sister, a huge gift box containing a gratitude journal, pens with her initials, bath and skincare products, a windchime and a bouquet of artificial roses!

    1. Sounds lovely!

  2. Please don’t enter me in your giveaway, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS on your new release, Elizabeth! It sounds wonderful. And, also, I’m kinda envious of your new Cuisinart… 😀
    Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you!
You should get one! It chops ALL THE THINGS! I made a chocolate ganache for Christmas and it was so nice not to have to grate the chocolate.

  3. My computer kept on restarting last week so my New Year is spent by going to the computer shop to get it repaired. Luckily they found nothing wrong after running some tests so I collected it back yesterday. But I did spend some time to get to know my neighbours better as they drove me to the shop and we had late lunch.

    1. Oh no! I’m sorry! That sounds so stressful. At least you’re making friends. 🙂
