September Storm Relay Story Part 11 – The end!

Thank you again to everyone who made this fundraiser so successful! We’ve raised nearly $1100 alone from the tag-a-long story alone. We still need to add up the cameos and the other fundraiser offers to get a grand total.  The last part is written by L. L. Diamond. Thanks for reading!

Don’t forget that the Bahamas will need help for some time! If you haven’t already donated, please donate to Americares here.

The next morning, Mrs. Bennet stared at the variety of expressions around her dining room table. Mr. Bingley sat beside Jane, leaning closer than what was entirely proper while they conversed. Oh! Her poor nerves! Would that boy ever propose?

Lydia sat beside Colonel Fitzwilliam, giggling raucously as the colonel flinched and rose from the table. “I thank you for the meal, Mrs. Bennet, but I find I cannot eat another bite.” Her youngest daughter sighed with a smile. Such an amiable girl!

With a swoosh of well-starched fabric, someone stomped down the hall. When Lady Catherine passed the door, Mrs. Bennet jumped from her chair. “Your ladyship! Would you care for breakfast! I set a wonderful table!”

“She will not be staying, my dear.”

She pivoted to find Mr. Bennet standing directly behind her. “Did you offend her?”

“On the contrary, she offended all that she met. Do not fret. You shall have two future sons at your table this morning for Mr. Bingley has requested permission to wed Jane and Mr. Darcy has requested permission to wed—”

“Lydia!” Oh! Her youngest daughter would be so great! The gowns, the jewels! Oh how she would go distracted.

Mr. Bennet rolled his eyes. “That would be bigamy. No, he has requested to wed Lizzy.”

“Lizzy!”

As she looked up, Mr. Darcy and Lizzy emerged from Mr. Bennet’s library hand in hand. Mrs. Bennet promptly fainted dead away.

Poor Mrs. Bennet’s nerves finally got the best of her. She is so Lydia focused that she completely forgot she was already married. La! At least the right couples came together. Whew! I was worried there for a minute.

    1. LOL! Mrs. Bennet just didn’t think. Thanks, JW!

I seem to have gotten some of these parts together or out of order. I had two with the same “ending”. Thanks for the story – enjoyed it. Best of luck with the fund raising.

    1. I’ll go back and double check! Sorry about the mix-up! Thanks, Sheila!

Now that was quite an ending to this story! Mrs. Bennet not having time to call for her salts before fainting dead away! Hahaha!
Thank you for such an entertaining ‘stormy’ adventure!

    1. You’re welcome, Carole! We enjoyed writing it!

Thanks to everyone for this very entertaining story. I really enjoyed the compilation of Austen characters in this collaborative story. My favorite character has to be Lady Catherine. Many times I have thought about how she may behave when not in the comfort and security of her own domain. It would also be interesting to consider how she would behave in a situation that is above her station. This was truly wonderful and I enjoyed reading it!
    Thanks again!

    1. We’re happy to do it! It was fun to let go and just write whatever crazy scenario came to mind. Thank you, Laura!

I’m catching up after being away on vacation. Reading the last five posts back to back. Oh, that was a blast. So much fun. I think I recognized a scene in the last few from your own situation, Leslie…the flooding ceiling???

I’d like to thank you Leslie, and the other authors who contributed to the relay, (and the other September Storm posts,) and all the authors who donated their proceeds from book sales and mentoring time on behalf of the fundraiser. I was more than happy to participate.

Just like scandals in the ton, once the next natural disaster occurs, the previous one and its aftermath gets forgotten by all but the people affected. It’s very hard to continue to feel that compassion when some place new demands our attention, not to mention our own crazy lives. But for this brief time, you made the fundraising fun and accomplished an admirable goal. The charities you connected us to are worthy of our consideration on a regular basis. Again, thank you.
