Even after all these years, this is one of my favorite books. I learned so much in the process of writing it, it was pivotal in my author journey.

I loved all the twists and turns in this book. It was suspenseful, challenging, romantic and well worded. ~Amazon Review (Mary Ann)

Lady Catherine commands everything except Elizabeth’s heart.

Elizabeth Bennet has spent years watching Lady Catherine de Bourgh control every aspect of her family’s life. So, when she chooses a husband for Elizabeth, she expects obedience.

Unfortunately, Elizabeth has other ideas.

The chosen gentleman is Mr. George Wickham—and Elizabeth has no intention of surrendering her future to a man she neither loves nor respects.

Then Fitzwilliam Darcy comes to call at Rosings Park and is immediately fascinated by Elizabeth. She effortlessly understands everyone around her, including him—something no woman has ever done. She sees past the reserve and pride that have kept everyone else at a distance, leaving Darcy utterly and completely undone.

Lady Catherine is not amused.

Determined to see her daughter Anne wed to Darcy and Elizabeth safely married to Wickham, she will not tolerate any interference with her plans.

But Elizabeth has never been particularly good at following other people’s plans.

And neither, it seems, has Darcy.

Who is this Mr. Darcy and what are his intentions? Like much of Meryton, the Bennets of Longbourn anticipate the arrival of Mr. Bingley and his friends to Netherfield, yet an unexpected visitor is not a part of Mr. Bingley’s or Mr. Darcy’s plans. While the two gentlemen attempt to control their uninvited guest, Elizabeth Bennet arrives to tend to her ill sister. An overheard conversation, the intriguing behaviour of Mr. Darcy, and Miss Bingley’s cloying manner all fascinate her, but manage to throw her emotions into turmoil as well. As Elizabeth becomes better acquainted with Mr. Darcy, his world unfolds and, if possible, it is more complicated than the man himself! Mysterious strangers and seducers lurk in the shadows—enough to threaten anyone’s equanimity. Elizabeth’s courage will be tested as she not only struggles to discover her own heart, but also why danger seems to surround Mr. Darcy.

I had to know what happened next! From the exquisite cover to the final “Welcome to Pemberley, my love,” it is a most enjoyable read. Every Savage Can Dance
Mrs. Diamond’s story also navigates that tender balance between writing a JAFF story filled with romance and one filled with angst. She skillfully includes some lovely moments of romantic tension where Darcy and Elizabeth reveal themselves and share themselves with one another, both emotionally and physically.

To Conquer Pride by Jennifer Altman

The course of true love never did run smooth…

When Fitzwilliam Darcy departs Hunsford after his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, he does not expect their paths to cross again. Indeed, knowing the lady’s true feelings for him, he makes every effort to see that they do not. But when a chance encounter leaves him stranded in an abandoned cottage with the one woman he can never have, Darcy quickly realizes there is more at risk than just Elizabeth’s reputation.

Elizabeth Bennet knows Mr. Darcy is the last man in the world whom she could ever be prevailed on to marry. The Darcys of Derbyshire by Abigail Reynolds

Elizabeth Bennet longs to see the dramatic view from the famous Black Rocks in Derbyshire, but her uncle refuses to allow her to climb to the rock outcroppings alone. Elizabeth’s distress is only worsened by a chance encounter with Mr. Darcy — at least until he offers to escort her to the top. Unbeknownst to her, the Black Rocks have a very special meaning for him.

As Darcy tells her the tale of his parents’ courtship and marriage, Elizabeth, like Darcy’s mother before her, is forced to confront the power of destiny atop the Black Rocks.
