New Audiobook: A Matter of Honor

What could be better than a Pride & Prejudice variation set in Scotland? Hearing the audiobook version with all those luscious Scottish accents! Yes, the audiobook of A Matter of Honor is available now from Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. Narrator Elizabeth Klett did her usual fabulous job bringing Elizabeth and Darcy to life – her reading of Darcy’s letter brought tears to my eyes – but her reading of Duncan MacLaren, the Highland laird’s son, was absolutely swoon-worthy. That boy could give Darcy a run for his money as a romantic hero!

Here’s the blurb:

Pride & Prejudice goes to Scotland!

When Fitzwilliam Darcy, still smarting from Elizabeth Bennet’s rejection, discovers she was forced to flee her home in disgrace owing to his actions, his course is clear. He must marry her. It is a matter of honor. All he has to do is find her and propose. Surely that will be simple enough.

But Elizabeth does not want to be found, especially not by Darcy. From the moment he entered her life, he has caused disaster after disaster. Now he has followed her all the way to Scotland, foolishly certain it’s within his power to fix all her problems. But far more is at stake than Darcy knows.

Darcy’s quest takes him from backstage at Edinburgh’s Theatre Royal to the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, where mysterious Highlanders prove both friend and enemy. And now his search risks exposing long-hidden secrets that threaten his happiness and her future.

On the run and in danger, Elizabeth is forced to make impossible choices to protect those whom she loves – including Darcy. Her growing attraction to him is at war with her need for caution, and the stakes are impossibly high. Can she trust him to continue to fight for her protection when he knows the whole truth? And if he does, will it be for love… or will it be merely a matter of honor?

Sigh. I wish I were in Scotland, with or without Mr. Darcy! 🙂

This may be my favorite book by Abigail Reynolds. I enjoyed the setting, the new characters, Elizabeth’s independence, and Darcy’s determination. I would love to be able to hear Elizabeth Klett read it, as she is my favorite reader. I regularly listen to her read Jane Austen’s novels because she brings them to life with her amazing accents.

    1. Carla, I just sent you an email with a question. I’ve been told about a way that might work to give free audiobooks to people outside the US and UK, but I need a test subject. Interested?

  1. I absolutely loved this book, and it may be one of her best books, if not the best of them all. There is a lot of mystery at first, but it all comes together and shows much research as well.

YOU, my dear author, are responsible for the hundreds of books I have read or listened to in the genre’ (if you will) of variations on Jane Austen’s works (principally “Pride and Prejudice” and occasionally some of her other works). The first JAFF book I read was your “Mr. Darcy’s Letter” eight years ago and it has been a never ending gluttony of reading since. You opened up a whole new world to me populated by yourself, Diamond, Kincaid, Grace, Caldwell, Adams, Dixon, Clarkston, Fairbanks, McMann & Hanford, King, Joy, etc, etc, etc. I love you all! I have several audio books narrated by Elizabeth Klett that I have enjoyed listening to – more than once for some. (As much as I may enjoy a book, if the narrator isn’t “good”, I’ll never listen to the book again. Unfortunately, I have several audibles by one narrator – I kept hoping she’d get better – and now I won’t buy the book if she is the narrator. ) I would dearly love to count among the books in my Audible Library a copy of “A matter of Honor”. Thank you for giving us the opportunity of having one for free.

I loved this one, Abigail. Having visited Scotland two years ago I jumped at the chance to revisit the highlands through your eyes and words. This is, indeed, one of your very best stories. I loved every word.

My love of Darcy and Austen led me to my second love, Jamie Fraser and Outlander. Because of a recommendation by the Austen JAFF fans I discovered another hero with a strong and abiding love for his lady. I always wished Darcy could meet Jamie and see how they would get along. LOL!
