Jane Austen and the King of Bling… at Glorious Gunnersbury Park

I am so excited to be visiting glorious Gunnersbury Park on 4th June 2019 to chat all about George IV and his love of Jane Austen. You can find out how to book below and this gorgeous property really has to be seen to be believed. Its restoration has recently been completed and it’s sure to look perfect after dark.

I also have some super exciting news to share for early Autumn but for now, I have to keep that under my hat. I can’t wait to tell you all about it super soon though!

Jane Austen and the King of Bling, Gunnersbury Park, 4th June 2019
7pm-9pm
£10 (including a glass of wine)
This lively talk delves into the sometimes shocking, always scandalous, private life of ‘the first gentleman of England’. It suggests why Austen boldly declared she ‘hated’ this monarch even after she was his honoured guest at London’s most prestigious address. The other side to this saucy Sovereign was a man who championed Jane Austen and her works which secured the Regent his very own dedication from the author he adored.

Well… at least George lV had good taste where authors were concerned. You can’t fault the guy if he adored Austen. Just saying…

George IV was a top bloke. Crass and class in one melodramatic package.

Do wish I could visit some to these lovely historic building. That is one thing Great Britain has over the USA.

Is this the king who pressured JA into dedicating her one book to him?
