Coming Saturday: Strange Happenings at Longbourn

Hello fellow Janeites!

I am thrilled to announce that Strange Happenings at Longbourn will be available on Saturday, September 13th. You can find the book on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. Strange Happenings is a full-length novel of a little over 100,000 words. This mystery is low-angst but thrilling nonetheless, and I hope you’ll give it a read!

In this book, Darcy and Lizzy come together early as they attempt to discover the source of Longbourn’s troubles. Through it all, they investigate disgruntled tenants, secrets from the past, and much more. You will also find a stronger Bingley with a little sass, a Mr. Bennet who feigns disinterest but has genuine concern, and sweet relationships between the Bennet sisters.

You can preorder the book on Amazon, or read it on Kindle Unlimited starting on Saturday!

And here’s the book blurb:

Strange things are happening at Longbourn. It is up to Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy to discover what mischief is afoot.

Elizabeth Bennet has always trusted her instincts—especially when it comes to discerning character. So when the proud Mr. Darcy unexpectedly offers a sincere apology for his first impression, she is both surprised and intrigued. What begins as an unlikely friendship soon deepens, just as strange occurrences begin to trouble Longbourn. Missing objects, whispers in the night, and unexplained footsteps suggest something—or someone—is haunting the Bennet family’s quiet life.

Fitzwilliam Darcy never imagined that a trip to Hertfordshire would so thoroughly upend his world. Determined to become a better man after a stern lecture from his cousin, he finds himself drawn to a spirited young woman who challenges and fascinates him. As the mystery at Longbourn unfolds, Darcy joins Elizabeth in unraveling the clues—and in doing so, finds himself falling for her more with each passing day.

With every disappearance and every secret revealed, Elizabeth and Darcy are drawn closer together, relying on wit, trust, and growing affection to uncover the truth behind Longbourn’s peculiar happenings.

Strange Happenings at Longbourn is a cozy, low-angst Pride and Prejudice variation filled with friendship, gentle romance, and a touch of mystery perfect for a fireside read.

I love the colours on the cover. I also love the low angst and the early collaboration between Darcy and Elizabeth so I’m looking forward to reading this one. It will have to wait until I’m out of hospital to download it.

    1. I wish you recover soon, Glynis: you´re always an active member of JAFF community 😉

  1. Hi, M.J,
Great news! I love the idea of some mystery involving Jane Austen´s characters and I think it fits well with the Fall season that is coming soon 😉
I wonder if the mystery will be about real people or strange phenomenon LOL
Thanks for the info and good luck with the release although you don´t need it 😉
By the way, I love the cover with the reddish atmosphere of fallen leaves and the dress.

I love these variations. Alas, I read on a Nook and don’t have access to a Kindle.
Would it be possible to release this new variation on Nook as well?
I read all the time and am a true JANITE, and have so enjoyed all the new ideas writers
Thank you for sharing this piece on the new book.
    Sincerely
    Connie Juhl

    1. Unfortunately, I cannot release on Nook due to Amazon’s exclusion clause for having a book in KU. It is available in print, however!

I just finished reading it Sunday afternoon and I enjoyed it very much. It’s based on three slight changes . . . Darcy acting decisively with GW initially, not later, Darcy apologizing for being a boor to Elizabeth, and a mystery. With those three changes, the plot continued nicely and worked well. My only question was the Sheldon farm. It seemed the whole Sheldon thing was a red herring, but I would have liked to see it connect more.

    1. Thank you so much! I appreciate your thoughts!
