Lucy Marin

Toronto, Canada

Lucy Marin developed a love for reading at a young age and whiled away many hours imagining how stories might continue or what would happen if there was a change in the circumstances faced by the protagonists. After reading her first Austen novel, a life-long ardent admiration was borne. Lucy was introduced to the world of Austen variations after stumbling across one at a used bookstore while on holiday in London. This led to the discovery of the online world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction, and soon after, she picked up her pen and began to transfer the stories in her head to paper. Her first novel, Being Mrs Darcy, was published in March 2020, followed by a novella, Mr Darcy: A Man with a Plan, in July 2020. The Recovery of Fitzwilliam Darcy was released in April 2021, an a holiday novella--Christmas at Blackthorn Manor--in November, followed by Her Sisterly Love in January 2022. The Marriage Bargain, a full-length novel, was published in April 2022. This was followed by The Truth About Family (January 2023), A Matter of Prudence (August 2023), and Mrs Bennet Makes a Match (October 2023). There is more in store for 2024!

The Marriage Bargain Cover Reveal and Excerpt

Hello everyone! I have a new book coming out in just two and a half weeks. It is called ‘The Marriage Bargain’ and is a Pride and Prejudice variation inspired by a novel by Georgette Heyer titled ‘A Civil Contract’. I came up with the plot years ago (while re-reading the Heyer story), and I …

Being Mrs Darcy Anniversary Post

It’s hard to believe, but my first book baby is now a toddler. Being Mrs Darcy was released two years ago this month, and to celebrate, it is getting a new (lower) price. Since this month’s theme is merriment, I decided to post a merry–okay, what should be a merry–scene from Being Mrs Darcy: Elizabeth …

Hello everyone! I wrote the following short story earlier this year and posted it online at A Happy Assembly as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations. I thought I would post it here too. In it, the Darcys celebrate their 15th anniversary at Pemberley. The story is entirely from Darcy’s perspective, and he is a …

Elizabeth & Darcy’s Happy Meeting

Hello everyone! I found this old vignette while digging through my files recently. I posted it online years ago. I can’t remember when, but I have a vague recollection of wanting something easy and happy. I’ve cleaned it up a bit, but I warn you, I did then things I never would now, namely head-hopping …

Elizabeth Takes a Walk

Good day! The monthly theme for August is ‘Up the Garden Path’. My vignette is loosely based on it, and I drew inspiration from my nifty little Nancy Drew book once again. This time the quote I choose is “The best way to clear one’s mind is to commune with nature” from The Hidden Staircase. …

Elinor Seeks Solace in a Maze

Hello everyone! This month’s theme is “Caught in a Maze”, and I decided to use it as inspiration and see what I could come up with for a vignette. Having no real ideas, I thought I’d finally do something I’ve been considering for months and use a prompt from this amusing little book that was …

Blossoming Love: The Recovery of Fitzwilliam Darcy bonus scene

Hi everyone, When I was editing The Recovery of Fitzwilliam Darcy, I wrote several scenes to show more of Elizabeth and Darcy (‘William Lucas’) when they were younger. This one did not make it into the book, and when the monthly theme of ‘blossoming love’ was chosen, I immediately thought about it. It takes place …
