Welcome to the 2025 Austen Variations Advent Calendar, where our amazing authors will bring you a new gift every day from now until December 24th.
Yes, it’s yet another free short story I’m offering as part of the Austen Variations Advent Calendar. Today’s gift is another of my old short stories, “Such Differing Reports”. It will only be available to download through Dec. 17.
Be sure to stop by on Dec. 16, Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, when I’ll have a bunch of great freebies and giveaways!
This story was one of the earliest things I wrote, which means it’s somewhat dated, back to the days when JAFF writers stuck much closer to Jane Austen’s text and style. I debated whether to even include it in my giveaways because the style is so different from most JAFF today, but I still like it. Especially the chickens. And a very different letter from Mr. Darcy! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
Once again, the e-pub downloads are limited to the first 250 takers ETA: Sorry, all gone! But there’s no limit to pdf downloads! Click on the version you want to download. I hope you enjoy it!
In case you’ve missed it, Under the Netherfield Mistletoe is available now in Kindle Unlimited! My new short novella holiday is getting great reviews, and I’m thrilled to say that we’re adding a French translation to the German and Spanish ones already on sale! I hope you’ll check it out!
Check back tomorrow for your next gift.

Thank you so much Abigail. I prefer e-pub and luckily I’m early enough to get one. Chickens? That’s definitely a first, I’m very intrigued! 🤔🥰🥰
Thank you so much! I was a bit concerned that the e-pub wouldn’t work on my Kindle e-reader, but it worked perfectly!
thank you!!
Thank you, Abigail. So happy to have this!
Thank you! I look forward to reading it 🙂
Thank you for the story!
Thank you so much for this story.Always looking for new variation stories
Abigail, just had to come back and tell you how much I enjoyed “Such Differing Reports.” I loved Darcy’s willingness to expose his feeling to Elizabeth, yet his respect for her maidenly sensibilities. My wish is that every woman could have such a considerate suitor! Thank you so much for sharing this lovely story with us for Christmas.
