Win an audiobook of Mr. Darcy’s Enchantment!

My book Mr. Darcy’s Enchantment actually came out in audiobook format from Tantor Media last month while I was still recovering from Lyme Disease and two days before I released A Matter of Honor, so I never managed to celebrate it with a giveaway. But now it’s time, and I’m ready to celebrate! Getting this audiobook made was a challenge because not only is it exceptionally long (twice the length of most of my books), but it also involves a lot of talent for different voicing for characters for Faerie, not to mention some ingenuity to voice the highly communicative meows of Pepper, the magical cat.

Pepper, the magical cat

Mr. Darcy’s Enchantment is a magical Pride & Prejudice variation with elements from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so I was incredibly fortunate to have the audio talents of Elizabeth Klett, who is an English professor by day and audiobook narrator by night, and whose academic specialties include Shakespeare and Jane Austen. And let me tell you, she did a fabulous job with Pepper’s sardonic meows, too!

But why would you be interested in a book that mixes Pride & Prejudice with magic? Well, this is from Austenesque Reviews’ 5 star review: “Whether or not you enjoy fantasy and believe in magic, this enchanting and compelling variation by Abigail Reynolds will cast you under its enigmatic spell…. Abigail Reynolds constructs a fascinating fantasy that entwines Jane Austen’s characters in an enchanted adventure filled with secrets, new prejudices, conflicts, corruption, and of course, magic.” It also won the Readers’ Choice Favorite Award for 2018. Another reader said, “I wasn’t sure I’d like it and I couldn’t put it down.”

Today I’m giving away a free audiobook of Mr. Darcy’s Enchantment from Audiobook.com to a lucky commenter. The audiobook is also available on Amazon, Audible, iTunes, Kobo, and Google Play, and to libraries through Overdrive and Hoopla. If you’d like to win a copy, please leave a comment.

In a Regency England where magic and faeries are real . . .

Fitzwilliam Darcy is a powerful magician who controls fire, water, and wind. What he cannot control is his growing feelings for Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Elizabeth’s sentiments towards Darcy are quite different. She detests his arrogance, and she fears he will expose her use of forbidden magic—forbidden to women, that is. He is the last man in the world she would choose to help her on a difficult and dangerous task.

But when a magical war looms between the land of Faerie and their world, a Lord of Faerie demands that Darcy and Elizabeth serve together as his emissaries to make peace with the other mortals. That mission throws them into the middle of a chaotic power struggle between magicians whose power dwarfs their own, and everything Elizabeth has ever believed about her family, her friends, and her enemies will be called into question.

Want to know more? You can read the first few chapters here.

Don’t forget to comment to win an audiobook! You can tell me something that interests you about this book — or, if you’ve already read it, I’m in rather desperate need of advice about how to handle a certain Faerie prince named Aelfric who keeps trying to break into my next story…. 😉  Want a second chance to win? I’m giving away another copy on my own blog at Pemberley Variations, and you can comment there, too!

The giveaway is now over! The winner is Nicole. Thanks to all who commented!

I haven’t read the book so I have great expectations. I have always enjoyed these magical versions of Miss Austen’s books.

My two favorite things….P&P and audiobooks!! I drive quite a bit so listening is how I get through a majority of the books I read. And your books never disappoint, Ms. Reynolds!

I haven’t read this book yet, but the things I’ve just read about it sound really fun! I haven’t dared into audiobooks yet, but am very curious. This might be a wonderful start! Thank you for offering one of your fans a free copy!

Oh, Abigail, get well soon! I hope the noise does not keep you from your rest!

Perhaps Aelfric could be appeased with a (short story) Christmas sequel to ‘Mr. Darcy’s Enchantment’? What do the Fay think of snow? Does it ever snow in Faery? And how do Anne and Aelfric get along? Are they into much mischief? 😉

Oh, I’m not entering the giveaway, since I already know the book – but I wish all the other participants good luck!!

I was not sure how I felt about the mix of fairies and P & P. I do like innovative variations but this seemed a little far out there. But as a long time Abigail fan I decided to take a chance What a wonderful book! Great story line, wonderful characters as usual. Can’t wait to hear it on audio. Congratulations .

    Good morning!

Having a number of your books in my Audible collection, I’m no stranger to your creative and compelling Austen variations, but I’ve not been seriously tempted by a fantasy version of P&P. That is, until today. I’ve already skipped over to Audible to check out the reviews. The thought of venturing into the sample chapters makes me wonder if, like others, I’ll find myself drawn into a magical read! Who cares?! I’m going in!

(And hoping to win an audiobook copy!)

So sorry to hear you contracted Lyme Disease, Abigail. And thank you, once again, for your generosity towards your readers. I have read and loved this story and would love to “listen” to it again while taking my daily walk if I win. Your cat is gorgeous.

Darcy and Elizabeth and magic–a combination not to be missed. Any book written by Ms. Reynolds is guaranteed to be interesting and well written. An audible book would give me the opportunity to listen to my favorite characters when my eyes are too tired to read or when traveling. Thank you for your generosity.

Thank you for the chance for the audiobook. I have read the book and it was 5 stars for me. I listened to a sample of the audio and the narrator did a great job with the different voices. The cat, Pepper has two different eye colors? Sorry to hear about your Lyme disease, I hope you are getting adequate rest.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book – three times so far. The characters are enchanting (pun intended but a factual statement as well) the relationships intriguing, surprises abound and there is a delightful Shakespearean flavor. It would be fun to hear it read by someone who really knows how to read aloud – someone to keep me company while I am doing handwork.

What can be more appealing the possibility of anyone try to transform Mr Collins into a frog ?? Or Lady Catherine being a dark witch? I became to adore audiobooks, they keep my sanity in the way home after a day’s work, and doing domestics tasks. It’s not often we have a JAFF’s audiobook and for that I thank you !!

I’d love a a chance to win this audiobook! I have a few old favourites from you in audio narrated by ELizabeth Klett, so I’m sure this is excellent too. I am intrigued by more to come in the same universe with Faerie and Aelfric. Does this mean he will have a new romantic interest in the future? (Trying to avoid major spoilers here!) It seems a shame – but I’m sure if Aelfric demands something a mere mortal had better obey and that something magnificent will be the result.
