Advent Calendar Day 19: Puzzling Cover Art

I hope you’re enjoying discovering all the SPECIAL TREATS hidden in this year’s ADVENT CALENDAR! Today I’ve got 3 jigsaw puzzles for you, made from the cover art for my first three novels. I could call them the “big sky” covers. You’ll soon see why.

Writing is my passion, but I always look forward to the chance to bring in my artistic side in the cover creation process. I usually start with a piece of appropriate original artwork, and then, after telling him what I have in mind, I turn it over to my graphic designer to work his magic. After several rounds back and forth, we arrive at the finished product.

But you, the readers, probably never see that first step: the original artwork we begin with. So today, if you’re willing to play along, you’ll have a chance to look behind the scenes to that starting point – the “before” shot.  Click on the finished covers below of The Darcys of Pemberley, Return to Longbourn, and For Myself Alone, and you’ll be taken to a custom jigsaw puzzle of each. Play them as is or adjust the number of pieces or the background color, if you like. Then come back when you’re done and let me know which one you like best and why. Have fun!

(*Caution: Playing online jigsaw puzzles can be habit forming! You have been warned!)

Pemberley, of course. I love working on puzzles. Thanks for the opportunity to see the original artwork. It was really beautiful. I can do them again and change the number of puzzle pieces. Blessings, stay safe, and healthy.

I often take a break from reading to do free jigsaw puzzles online. I enjoyed doing all three of these. Thank you. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Stay safe. Happy Holidays.

Can’t say that one was a favorite over the others but since P&P stories are my favorite I will vote for Pemberley.

I have used online jigsaw puzzles as a quick break/stress relief from work. Thank you for the puzzles. I liked all three, but I think I liked Longbourn the most.

All gorgeous… but of course I choose Pemberley. And to think I might have been mistress of all if this… 😍

Thank you for sharing the covers. I like the Darcys of Pemberly cover best, because is very close to what I imagine when I am reading.
    Thank you again.

What fun! I had never tried a puzzle like this before – such a nice, quick break with beautiful scenes. Pemberly was my favorite – just the way I imagine it to look.

Since I read on kindle, I often don’t even see the covers. The house on RETURN TO LONGBOURN is just like the home in my imagination. The jigsaws from you and Abigail are my favorite activities so far.
