12 Days of Christmas, Day 5

…5 WORD SEARCH PUZZLES!

I’ve been pretty quiet around here this past year. More than a year ago, I started working at a bookstore, which I love, but there’s a long commute, which I hate. So basically an 8-hour work day becomes an 11-hour workday. Yikes. My reading has slowed, my writing has slowed, time has become nonexistent. 🙁

But here I am today to celebrate my favourite time of year, CHRISTMAS!!! Combine that with Jane Austen and a giveaway, and it really is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

As most people know, the 5th day of Christmas is usually the best day- the day where you get “FIVE GOLDEN RINGS” (she sang at the top of her lungs)! As much as I wish I was able to give away gold rings,  or gold anything for that matter, we’ll have to settle for something a little less extravagant. Since I work at a bookstore, sometimes some pretty cool Austen-related things cross my path. When I saw this book months and months ago, I knew I needed to snatch it up for just such a giveaway.

So I give you, the JANE AUSTEN WORD SEARCH. Below you’ll find a puzzle you can (hopefully) print off and complete. If you want to win the whole book, comment below and tell me something you got for Christmas this year (or, if you don’t celebrate, a favourite memory from this month), and you’ll be entered to win! Happy Word Finding!

P.S. I couldn’t paste an image of the PDF but you can click on the word “scan” below and it will open up the word search for you and you can print from there. 🙂

When I was a teenager, I used to borrow 3 or 4 books from my school library and spent most of the christmas holidays reading confortably seated in a big armchair at home.

Although we do celebrate Christmas in our house, I was simply glad that all of the humans in the family made it through to this time of year! It’s been a rough year; we’ve lost both of our dogs to cancers, hubby had a heart attack and my elderly auntie has had a couple of falls and been in hospital. So I’m mainly thankful to be in good health!

Will definitely have to print off that wordsearch puzzle. I do enjoy the verbal fencing between Darcy and Elizabeth as they’re dancing in that scene!

I don’t have a printer but managed to do the word search in my head!
My favourite memory this Christmas, apart from the visit from family was the video of one of my twin grandsons opening his present that he requested from Santa – a mango! He was so thrilled! He’s only just three so I imagine his requests in future years may be a bit more extravagant 🙂

I received for the second year the day by day calendar of JA quotes and multiple choice questions with answers at the bottom. I then use the back to write notes or lists. Just love it and am always learning something new.

I received an Amazon Gift Card for Christmas and spent the whole morning shopping for items on my Amazon Wish-List. What fun. Now that is a wonder morning. I love word searches. I can’t do crossword puzzles for some reason. Never have been able to get the flow of words or get in the head of the author. Mother loved them but I never got the hang of it. As far as your commute… get a recorder of some sort and brainstorm your stories as you drive. Who knows what you will create while simply driving to work. Blessings on the New Year. Happy New Year to all.

My wedding anniversary is on boxing day and my favorite gift was a beautiful pink sapphire butterfly necklace.

  2. What a cute book! This year, for Christmas, I received a new PINK phone. It’s very girly, and I love it!

I’ve been sick over Christmas, but we had a wonderful family trip earlier in December.
Could you tell us the name of the book this word search came from? Trying to find it, I’ve discovered other gems, but not the one with these two pages.

Hi, Melanie, Thanks for the word search to try out. I love these types of puzzles and would enjoy an entire book of Jane Austen inspired puzzles. Something I got for Christmas — well actually, there are 2 things I’d like to mention. One is a painting my high school daughter did for me and the other is a fleece blanket my 8th grade son made for me (with help from the high schooler). I challenged my kids to make something for me this year instead of just buying something. I love what they came up with and will cherish these gifts, to be sure.
    Thanks for the opportunity!

With two cataract surgeries and family dinners I saved these blogs to read now. Love reading of all the generosity. Thank you, authors. Happy New Year.
