It’s the holiday season, dear readers, and what a wonderful time it is. Everyone seems to be a little kinder, a little more patient and more willing to forgive and forget. The lights are brighter, the music is jollier and the books…are more apt to feature a cabin in the woods with snow.
How I love to read holiday stories, especially with our dear couple trapped together with no way to escape— forced to confront their feelings.
Those books give us what we all wanted when we were reading Pride and Prejudice in the first place– alone time for Elizabeth and Darcy without any outside complications.
And let’s be honest. We’ve all imagined, at least for a moment, that WE were Elizabeth Bennet dancing at the Netherfield Ball with Mr. Darcy, or Anne Elliot talking to Captain Wentworth at Molland’s, or even Catherine Morland discussing muslin with Henry Tilney. So how much better would it be to be alone to clear up all the misconceptions?
Well now is your chance! Today you get to be the heroine of this story! Even if you are not a Mr. Darcy fan (sacrilege, I know), you too can have an adventure! Just check out the chart below and determine where your holiday story will take place, with whom and who is the additional guest who may or may not thwart your progress.
Post your answers in the comments below! Who knows? Maybe your ‘story’ will inspire someone to write another variation!
*On a side note, when I was creating the chart and was reading them to my husband, he stopped me at the location of ‘a cave.’ He asked,
Him: “Why would you want to be snowed in in a cave?”
Me: “Well, it’s just a location where no one else will bother them, and I needed another location for the chart.”
Him: “Is that supposed to be romantic?”
Me: “It could be.”
Him: “No way! They’d freeze their butts off! I’m glad I wasn’t born that month!”
So to all of you born in ‘that month’ make sure to wear your fur lined pelisse on any early morning rambles.
Happy Holidays!

What fun! I’m stranded in a coach with Mr. Bingley and Mrs. Bennet (I must be Jane). Mrs. Bennet will likely go for help and leave me alone with Mr. Bingley, because you know, five more minutes will do the trick!

How fun, indeed! And you’re right! 5 more minutes WILL do the trick. Well done!
I’m in a cabin with Colonel Brandon and Caroline Bingley. I suspect it would be amusing to witness their conversations.

I can imagine the patience of Col. Brandon serving him well with Caroline Bingley. Hopefully you would be able to act as a buffer with her possible attempts at ingratiating herself to him. 🙂
I’m in a coach with Mr Darcy 🥰🥰🥰 (alright I cheated and changed into my red jumper) 😁 and Lady CDB? 😱Really? Luckily Darcy gets tired of her ranting and throws her out! 😉😉🥰🥰

Glynis, you sly thing you! Changing clothes to alter your future! 🙂
I’m snowed in a cabin with Cpt Wentworth and Caroline Bingley. Well, Caroline must be her obnoxious self being snowed in with a man in uniform, but I’d like to add even more spice to the mix and be Lydia snowed in a cabin with Wentworth and Caroline! Cpt Wentworth will need all his naval training to deal with those two and keep the cabin from burning down when catty fiery barbs fly at each other.

Love this, Meg! Great job with your creativity! I’m sure Captain Wentworth would eventually get tired of their shenanigans and excuse himself. 🙂
Help! I’m stuck with Frank Churchill AND the Militia!

YIKES!!!! A multitude of undesirable men! 🙂
I’m snowed in at Darcy House with Col. Brandon and the militia. A whole houseful of soldiers! If I were Lydia Bennet, even the thaw wouldn’t get me to leave. 🙂

Love this! Poor Mr. Darcy!
What a fun post, Anngela!!
😁😁 I’m snowed in at Darcy House with Mr Darcy and Lucy Steele!! Dear oh dear. Thank goodness I don’t have a red car anymore 😁😁😁
Author
Thank you, Joana! Ick, Lucy Steele! Try and keep her away from Mr. Darcy!
I’m snowed in in an Inn with Mr Knightley and the militia. Hm, that doesn’t sound very romantic… unless you’re Lydia Bennet. 😀

Try to isolate from the militia and enjoy some wonderful conversation with Mr. Knightley. 🙂
You’re right, that wasn’t creative thinking on my part. The militia can take care of the snow, while I have Mr Knightley all to myself. And maybe I twisted my ankle (just a little) before, so he has to carry me in… 🤣
Hahaha! I’m snowed in at Netherfield with Colonel Brandon and the Militia! I’m sure the Colonel can keep the men busy shoveling snow while he and I become acquainted. I can’t play the pianoforte, but I can sing, and we could always discuss books!
In church (!!!!) with Mr Darcy (oh wait inspiration to put on my red pull today!!!) and Lady Cat!!
But… In church ?! Because July? I mean really who would be snowed in in July? Maybe only if the Church is in Australia….
Or if I were Anne de B…. Sickly thinking that she is cold in July because it is snowing….
Poor Darcy!!!!
💜🤓
I get snowed in at Longbourn with Frank Churchill and Mrs Bennet!!! Noooooo!!!
At an Abbey with Mr Bingley and Lady CDB – well this might be interesting – wonder if there are any ghosts in the abbey?? – hahaha
I was pretty excited to be snowed in at an abbey with Mr. Darcy, until I found out the entire militia would be joining us. Too crowded for my taste hahaha!!!
I am snowed in at a church with Edward Ferrars and Miss Bates. I think my ears are bleeding. I couldn’t win in the car category. My car is a strange muddy brown/green/gray depending on when you look at it and how the sunlight hits it. LOL!
On that side note: Where are your husband’s creative romantic notions. Hasn’t he ever heard of hot springs in the back of caves? That was my first thought. Oh, yes. That would certainly be romantic. Whew, where are my salts?
The above scenarios were absolutely hilarious. Everyone was so creative. Blessing, and Happy Holidays in the manner in which you celebrate.
Am snowed at Darcy House with Mr Knightley and Sir Walter.
Glad to have Knightley as my companion though I prefer his brother more … hmmm.
And I am sure we do not have to mind Sir Walter’s presence, just supply him with all the mirrors in the house and he can be silent for some time, no worries.
BUT, really, can someone just please tell me where is the master of the house??
Oh!! maybe AM the Mistress of the house, entertaining his guest in his absence!!
Hurray~~~
At an Abbey with Col. Brandon and Lydia B.
There is a great book with some romance between Darcy and Elizabeth when they are stuck in (not snowed in) a cave.: The Journey, by Jan Hahn. Also a cave scene with lots of conversation in Perilous Siege, C.P. Odom.
Any location will do, but you have to get the right people together.
At Netherfield

How lovely. I hope you get to walk into Meryton and meet the Bennet sisters on your way. 🙂
At Pemberley (not a bad place to be stranded) with Colonel Brandon & Lady Catherine. Given Pemberley’s size I should be able to avoid Lady C and either let the colonel handle her or let him handle me 🙂

Well done, Lois! I see you have thought this out quite thoroughly! 🙂
I’m snowed in with Mr. Bingley in a book shop with Lydia. I’m not sure either of them read, but Mr. Bingley would be a pleasant companion regardless. 🙂
I am snowed in at Rosings (Well, the accommodations are the best.) with Mr. Darcy (Lucky me!) and Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Now if I can just control my rebuttals to her insults about my education and connections. And try to find some time alone with Mr. Darcy. Let’s see…she never darkens the library door so that should be good, and we both like to read.
Eeee ghaads! I’m stuck in a coach with Bingley and Lady C! Oh the humanity! Lol 😂
Anngela! This is horrible – I am in a CAVE with Edmund Bertram and Lady Catherine de Bourgh! Let’s hope I have some wine in my reticule to get me through it. 😉 Thank you for the laugh!
