Release Day Celebration – Undoing

It’s release day!! I hope you’re as excited as I am!

If you just want to read Undoing now, click here to buy! I’ve never done this, but this morning I entered Undoing in Kindle Unlimited! Happy Reading!

Paperback is up! The Kindle and paperback aren’t linked yet, so here is the link!

First, I’ll go ahead and post the blurb in the event anyone missed it. 🙂

Blurb:

Seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Bennet always hoped to marry for love—that is until she surrenders to her mother’s demands and marries the handsome Duke of Leeds. Thrust into a society disinclined to accept the country nobody who entrapped one of their most sought-after bachelors, her marriage of convenience is nothing like she expected. Her husband confuses her, as he hides a scandalous secret he’s reluctant to share.

Fitzwilliam Darcy is a man torn. After meeting the Duchess of Leeds at a ball, he is fascinated by her intelligence and humour, but how does one maintain a respectable friendship with a lady—particularly when that lady is the wife of his cousin and godfather? Yet by spending time in her company, he loses more and more of his heart to a lady he is forbidden to possess. Tormented, his feelings must stay hidden from everyone, particularly Elizabeth. How is he to keep himself under such strict regulation when he is constantly thrown into her company? How does one prevent their own undoing?

Now for a bit of a bonus scene! We have access to a number of Elizabeth’s letters, so I’m posting part of a chapter where we get to read two of them 🙂 I hope you enjoy!

June 28th 1809
Pemberley, Derbyshire

Dearest Lizzy,

I can scarcely believe that in less than a week’s time you will be at Pemberley! Fitzwilliam and I have planned outings almost daily to show you all Pemberley has to offer. Do not fret! We have included your aunt’s list, and Fitzwilliam has even taken the liberty of messaging your aunt’s friends so you might make their acquaintance. We have considered everything, have we not?

I could tell you of the happenings here, and what is new, but I shall save that for your arrival. We can have chocolate and biscuits while we chat late into the night as we did at Worthstone. I believe we would have matters to discuss even should I write of what has occupied my time, but it will be ever so much fun this way!

Lastly, I know Uncle Thomas has claimed it unnecessary, but I must thank you both again for my little Evie. You should see how she has grown! She is not so little anymore, yet she is still the most adorable bundle of kisses and fur. The trainer who handles my father’s dogs has helped me teach her a few tricks, and she is doing so well inside the house. I, however, am not certain the footmen are as pleased with her since they are required to walk her when I cannot. I am eager to show you her accomplishments when you arrive. I am certain Uncle Thomas will be impressed by her progress.

Please hurry to Pemberley, Lizzy. We eagerly await your arrival.

Yours very affectionately,

Georgiana Darcy

I hope you do not mind, but Fitzwilliam requested I enclose a letter. He has taken it upon himself to ensure you are well-entertained for the duration of your stay.

Elizabeth placed Georgiana’s letter to one side, beaming in pleasure at her friend’s excitement. Her anticipation of their journey had only grown since Georgiana departed Worthstone almost a month prior.

The carriage shifted, and she placed a hand to the seat beside her to steady herself. Her husband watched out of the window but appeared unconcerned, so she turned her attention back to her correspondence.

Fitzwilliam’s steady yet bold handwriting stared up at her from the letter, commanding her attention. She traced a finger upon the neat script flowing across the expensive paper. The seal broke easily, and she unfolded the missive.

June 28th 1809
Pemberley, Derbyshire

My dear friend,

Pemberley is ready and awaiting your arrival. I cannot imagine Mrs. Reynolds or Georgiana have missed one detail in preparation for your stay, yet they meet daily to pore over menus and rooms. It is good practice for Georgiana, and I must tell you how I appreciate you beginning her household education while we visited Worthstone. Having her accompany you for your day-to-day meetings with your housekeeper was a splendid idea, and Mrs. Reynolds has commented on how much my sister has learned. My father has been impressed with her new-found knowledge as well.

In regards to your aunt’s list, Father and I have issued invitations to her friends for a dinner party to be held at Pemberley a week after your arrival. If you are not aware, the Leveson and Sutton families are rather prominent in the area, and Mr. Rowley is the vicar at Lambton.

Around mid-July, the Bingleys will pass a week at Pemberley as they journey from their aunt’s home in Wales to Scarborough. You will at long last meet the infamous Miss Bingley, though, in all honesty, I do wish she was not a member of the party. Please do not reveal my secret for while my father and sister may guess, you are the only person to whom I have made that egregious confession.

If you were not told enough in Georgiana’s letter, we anticipate your arrival. It has been many years since we have planned for a month such as this, and I believe even my father is eager for the diversion.

With warmest regards,

Fitzwilliam Darcy

I love the innocence in the letter from Georgiana but you’ve captured the undercurrents in the letter from Darcy. I’m intrigued to discover exactly why the Duke of Leeds wanted to marry Elizabeth. In a marriage of convenience, it will seem all the advantage would be on the Bennet family’s side so what’s his story? Hm…

    1. Oh, don’t underestimate the duke! I love that you catch the undercurrents in Fitzwilliam’s letter. This is still relatively early on in their friendship, but he’s definitely attracted! I hope you’ll read and discover Thomas’s story for yourself 🙂 Thank you, Debra!

Don’t need a copy as I have bought one yesterday morning and went to bed having read the whole book and loved it. I don’t know if more, or even, many readers have plot bunnies of books they would want to read, well, this was one of mine. Just as I had imagined it and better. So thank you dear author for the coming to life of a fantasy. Be well.

    1. Wow! Speed reader go! I’m so thrilled that I met your expectations and more! Writing this plot bunny was scary. I really worried how people would take it. I’m honestly overwhelmed and touched by all of the positive feedback. Thank you so much!

Well, Darcy is quite pleasant, but of course, she is his equal in rank, so he is not snobby or mean to her. Looks great and I will put it on my Wish List and hope it comes to KU eventually!

    1. He’s not snobby, but his reserve could be easily misunderstood in this one. I do try to make that clear. Due to issues with my distributor for other formats, I entered it in KU this morning. I don’t know when it will show up on the Amazon page, but happy reading! Thanks for coming by!

Looking forward to reading your new story.
The cover is stunning. Intriguing premise and the mystery of why a confirmed bachelor Duke wants to marry Elizabeth is tempting.
    Congratulations on your new story!
    Sure to be another success.

    1. Our confirmed bachelor does have doozy of a reason. I’ll leave it to you to find out when you read! That’s why the preview chapters don’t take us far. I don’t want to reveal too much 🙂 Thanks, Linny!

Sorry for the double posts. Couldn’t figure out how to correct a typo. My comment was for the first two chapters you had posted. This blurb, as you called it, has me even more excited about reading what has happened in the, meantime and how in the world our two favorites will ever come together without causing significant scandals…

    1. No worries on the dbl posts! Luckily I do have the technical know-how here to delete one 🙂 Lack of scandal? I don’t know. I suppose you’ll have to read to find out 😉 Thank you!

Ok. Elizabeth and her husband doesn’t have a normal relationship. Darcy is very different and more open and friendly.
I would like to read it.

    1. Our characters are all younger so not quite the same in that they haven’t reached the same maturity in canon. It’s not to say they’re different, but that they’re still maturing into who they become. How will this story change them? Will it make them into who we know in canon? Thanks, Simone!

This is incredibly intriguing! It’s looking to me like a very different take from the usual “Elizabeth marries before she meets Darcy” plot. Can’t wait to read more!

Well, look at all these comments from which you need to choose a winner. Each and every person is eager to read this story. How excited you must be. I know I am.

That was an amazing excerpt. You were able to convey so much information in a short excerpt. This was such an uplifting excerpt where everyone seems excited to soon be together. Oh, Caroline… you wouldn’t dare insult or snip at a Duchess now, would you? Caroline isn’t too bright but when she sees the camaraderie between Georgiana and Darcy especially with Elizabeth, her claws can’t help but come out. This gossipmonger just might start a few rumors of her own. Oh, Leslie, yer killin’ me. I have so many questions. I have to read this. Congratulations on the launch and success of this book.

Thanks for sharing this excerpt with us. I really like the idea of Darcy and Elizabeth beginning their relationship as friends. Won’t Elizabeth’s marrying a duke put her more on the same social level as Darcy? Or does that put her above him? I’d be interested in reading the entire story to see just how this plays out. Thanks again!

    1. Technically, she’s above him. The family connection equalizes them a bit in the story. Thanks, Laura!

I just finished reading this today and was sobbing at the end. I loved this story…had to greatly admire two people who struggled so hard to fight the chemistry between them. I have to write a review and there is so much that could be considered a SPOILER that I will have to be careful.

    1. Yay! I’m so thrilled you loved it! I sobbed while writing the ending. It was so bad, my husband kept asking if I was okay. I do understand about spoilers! Trying to give everyone previews without telling a major plot point has been hard! It’s just packed full because I’m trying to cover a little over two years if you don’t count the epilogue. I just re-worked the blurb today to see if I could make it better. Thanks so much, Sheila!!

  1. Thank you for sharing some glimpses of Elizabeth as the Duchess of Leeds. I have not been following the story when it was posted but I am eager to learn more. It has made me curious for unless her husband dies, Darcy and Elizabeth cannot be married. And divorce is frown upon even among the upper classes and would leave a stain on her reputation.

    1. Maybe, maybe not. Kind of depended upon the situation thought it would’ve certainly been a scandal. That’s of course not telling if this goes that way 😉 Thanks, Lúthien84!
