His Family Objects: Coming Soon!

Hot on the heels of my modern book, A Pinch of Salt, I have a new Regency novel  coming this May. I’ve been busy! Haha

The book is titled His Family Objects. It is an Elizabeth and Darcy story. Its root is in a small line from Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth and the Gardiners are touring Pemberley, and when showing them the sitting room Darcy has prepared for Georgiana, Mrs Reynolds says, “There is nothing he would not do for her”. I wanted to play with that sense of devotion. We know Darcy is a good brother; even Wickham admits it (although he seems to hint that his affection for Georgiana might be more about image than genuine affection).

Darcy’s devotion to Georgiana is a central element of His Family Objects. What would he give up to protect her? Between his sister and his other relations (Colonel Fitzwilliam and his family), he is convinced he has to give up…Have you guessed? Elizabeth. There are compelling reasons for Darcy’s actions, but from Elizabeth’s perspective, Darcy gives in to his family’s snobbery. She eventually learns the truth, but it might just be too late by then. Sigh.

All teasing aside, in my books, Elizabeth and Darcy will *always* find their way together and have the happily ever after they deserve. So while circumstance separates them in His Family Objects, they do not forget that the love they have for each other (even though Elizabeth would be happy to do just that), and eventually, they are reconciled.

His Family Objects will be released on Monday, 20 May. The cover reveal is scheduled for 29 April. I’ve seen it, and it is gorgeous! I’ll share an excerpt then too.

Let me know if you have any questions about the book. I’ll answer what I can without giving too much away!

Have a wonderful day!

Lucy

This sounds like fun! I was once reading some advice for writing. One particular thing stuck: if you love your characters, put them through hell. Seems most of the novels/fanfics I read do just that!

Upon occasion, I do rather like to create err…challenging circumstances for my beloved characters to overcome. 😆 It’s all in good fun because we know that Darcy and Elizabeth will end up having their happily ever after.

      Thank you for commenting, June!

    Can’t wait!
I will be hiding behind the couch and keeping my tissues handy.

Thank you for giving us another one this year.

    1. It’s *possible* I made myself cry a time or two. That’s my aim for writing a book like this—-if I can consistently make myself cry even though I know what is going to happen, I’m happy. Thanks so much for your support, SamH!

This is so exciting! I love that you always have a HEA for Darcy and Elizabeth. I don’t believe in P&P stories that do not allows for their happiness. I can’t wait to read this new story.

    1. I would not want to read a story in which E&D didn’t end up together, so I’m definitely not going to write one either! Thanks for commenting. 🌸

Congrats on the new book but I can tell you are going to make us all cry before we can be happy

    1. Well, I made myself cry while writing and editing it, so if you are prone to crying while reading… Thanks for commenting, Glory!

Oh dear! I’m a bit scared to read this due to all the mention of crying , hehe! I’m actually reading Pinch of Salt right now. I’ve read some of Lucy’s other works and enjoyed, but I’m a big softie with regards to angst!

Congrats on the new book (s)!!!!

What an interesting concept – though I am a bit nervous. Don’t listen to them Fitzwilliam!!!!

    1. Poor Darcy. I’m afraid I really did not make his situation easy in this one! It all turns out well in the end. 🙂 Thank you for commenting, Maria D!

  1. Lucy, just sending a belated note to say congrats on yet another new release! Wow! I’ve got to say: you sure know how to put Elizabeth and Darcy in tough situations! But of course that’s why we’re here: to appreciate their love all the more after that love has been tested. Congrats again!

    1. Thank you, Christina! I take great delight in writing challenging circumstances for Elizabeth and Darcy. It helps them grow was people. 😂
