This is the book that showed up early and missed its own launch party – but hey, let’s go ahead and have one anyway. For me it’s been a strange sort of week, what with the anniversary of Jane’s death. It’s been full of highs and lows, sadness and excitement. It has left me needing an afternoon of fun and silliness – so instead of a long blog post here about this new release, I will be on the Austen Variations Facebook page from 5PM-7PM EST TODAY! Come along, they’ll be chances to win copies of the book and I’ll be hanging around to answer questions, chat, and will be posting some mini-excerpts. Hope you can join me.
No need to RSVP and no dress code (but wear your bonnet if you want to) and bring your own nibbles because it’s been a rough week and my cupboard is bare.
Here’s the blurb….
Two sisters, one man. Someone’s heart is about to get broken.
Elizabeth Bennet quickly realises she has misjudged Mr Darcy. In Kent, she learns first impressions are not always accurate. His proposal is disastrous, insulting even, but when she reads his letter her heart begins to thaw, and her objections and prejudices start to melt away. Elizabeth decides to offer Mr Darcy a sliver of hope, an apology, and a second chance.
Yet when he begins to call at Gracechurch Street, determined to become a better man and humbled by Elizabeth’s reproofs, he unwittingly stirs the romantic hopes of another lady altogether.
Jane Bennet, bereft and confused, rejected by Charles Bingley is fearful of becoming an old maid. She is eager to fall in love with the very first gentleman who takes notice of her, and Mr Darcy’s is, after all, everything her mother has wanted for her, rich and handsome, the perfect suitor.
Through crowded, industrious Cheapside, to the elegant ballrooms of Mayfair, Mr Darcy chases Elizabeth Bennet, unaware that the quiet unassuming girl who smiles too much, is fully intent on chasing him.

Caitlin, I loved this book. So honored to have had a chance to read it. Well done!
Thanks, Sheila. I appreciate you letting me know
I read the in process version and really enjoyed it. Is the published version a lot different?
This is a new favorite of mine and it’s fabulous to see all of the readers leaving such amazing reviews for your new book! Well done, indeed!
Congratulations Caitlin! I am actually reading it now and I am loving it! I must get back to it! I will follow along on the blog tour as, by choice, I am not on Facebook. It would be amazing to win an autographed copy of the paperback! Thank you!
Thanks Carole. So glad you’re enjoying the book
It’s the quiet ones that need to be watched
True Vesper! Thanks for dropping by.
I have to go to the ‘big city’ today (Seattle), so I will not be able to follow the Facebook celebrations this afternoon. After reading the synopsis, I am really eager to read this book. Sounds different and sounds fun. If you can enter me for the drawing, please do. Thank you! I love JA variation books.
Caitlin, I’ve been following this story as you were posting it before, but I haven’t read it yet. Saving it for the right time. But I’m confused, now that you’ve published it. From the blurb for the published version, it seems you’ve changed the tone (into an awkward love triangle?) The original story seemed more like a departure at a point from the original story: Elizabeth returning to the parsonage before Darcy had finished his farewells. So is it the same, or did you change the story in order to publish it?
I am going to a concert this evening, so I won’t be able to be at the facebook event tonight.
It has changed a little, I think for the better, mainly the ending. I don’t want to say too much in case I spoil things for people.
I just read the WIP version of this last week and loved it. I can’t wait to read the published version too, as I’m curious as to how much (if any) it changed. Will it cause the same unexpected spike in my blood pressure? Lol 😉 I’m a day late & am not on FB but I hope the FB party was lots of fun, and I’m looking forward to the blog tour.
