When Napoleon and his fire-breathing dragons menace all of Europe, Mr. Darcy and his mage powers are England’s last hope.
Danger awaits in France, where Darcy must complete his mission for England while fighting to return to his beloved Elizabeth. But when he finally comes face to face with Napoleon, Darcy discovers the tyrant’s dark secret – one that threatens the survival of England and everyone Darcy loves. Now he is on the run, trapped behind enemy lines with no hope of escape.
Back at Pemberley, Elizabeth discovers Darcy’s grave danger through their entwined magic. Accompanied by her trusted dragon, she sets forth on her own perilous journey to bring him home. But finding him is only the beginning, and Darcy and Elizabeth must work together to face magical traps and a relentless manhunt. As their love and magic are put to the ultimate test, will they be able to overcome the obstacles and save England from certain doom?
Fans of gaslamp fantasy, heartfelt romance, and Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice will be swept away by the heart-pounding adventure and deep love in The Magic of Pemberley.

My amazing beta readers have been very enthusiastic about this book, including what one describes as “the very satisfying ending!” But just to be clear, this is the second book of the trilogy, so there is a third part yet to come. I’m hoping to release The Guardians of Pemberley in April 2025, though I’ve listed it for September 2025 because Amazon will let you move a pre-order earlier (as I did for The Magic of Pemberley), but not later. I’ve already written over a third of Book 3, so I might manage it even earlier than April, but Darcy has been making some noise about going off on a side quest with his beloved Elizabeth, and I know better than to think I can talk that stubborn man out of anything!
Want to win a free e-book copy of The Magic of Pemberley? Just leave a comment here telling me something you like about magical P&P variations and I’ll pick two winners on October 2. I’ll throw in a copy of Spellbound at Pemberley for each winner, too. And thank you for joining me on this magical journey with Fitzwilliam Darcy, Mage!
Edited to add: Congratulations to Sabrina and Julia Mette, winners of the free ebooks! You’ll be getting an email from me.

I am addicted to the magical variations of Austen’s novels!!! I read and re-read them — they are so intriguing and compelling!! 😀
Cheering all of you magical authors ever onward,
Susanne 🙂
I love magical P&P variations, because there are so much more possibilities to create a unique universe in which the reader can spend time with these great characters.
I’m a P&P variations addict, but sometimes the plots tend to be so similar that it gets boring. That never happens in a magical universe.
Besides, imho this obstinate headstrong couple was born to save the magical world reluctantly working together.
I’m eagerly waiting for the last book to come out, because I want to read the whole trilogy without a break. I’m sure it will be great and I don’t want to spoil the experience because I have to wait for the next book.
I love the magical variations! As to why, I guess that there’s only so many ways we can have Darcy and Elizabeth interact in Regency England. When an author has magic or fantasy elements, it allows us the possibilities to expand, particularly in the hands of a good author. Congrats and best wishes on the new release!
Aside from just the extra sparks that fantasy adds, I like that magic can be a source of agency and power for people who are disadvantaged by strict class and gender boundaries.
I love P&P fantasy! This going to be a wonderful series. Book 1 is next up on my TBR list!
Congratulations!
Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of The Magic of Pemberley! What I love about magical P&P variations is that in some of them, Darcy and Elizabeth work together for the good of others and also help each other because of their deep love.
Just grabbed the KU and I am all a-quiver with excitement!!!
I was wondering about book 3. Glad to hear its a;ready in the works!
Congratulations!!!
No real comment, Abigail, I am just happy that the book is “out” and I am looking forward to some very pleasant hours!
I wish you an a-musing time with your muse for book 3 🥳
Best wishes
Doris
I’m a huge fan of the mixture of magic with my JAFF! I’m currently reading Mr. Darcy and the Enchanted Library, and it’s keeping me up for “just one more chapter…” and have already read & enjoyed Spellbound at Pemberley.
I love magical P&P variations as fantasy is one of my favorite genres as I am a big fan of Harry Potter and A song of ice and fire series so I love when Jane Austen is given the fantasy treatment.
I love the new ways fantasy can bring E &D together. It gives them new challenges that they would never face in a non-magical world.
I can’t wait to read The Magic of Pemberley!
Good luck with the release. And thanks for a chance to win a copy. This goes on my Wish List.
I’m so very interested in this series. I haven’t read the first one yet, and I’m new to this blog (which I now adore), but I’m entranced, as always, by alternate universe stories, particularly retellings, or fanfiction. There is something beautiful, I think, that we can do with all the mundane problems of life when we sprinkle in dragons, or magic, or superpowers. We get to deal with our own normal problems, but we can do it with sparkle!
So that’s me: the aspect I love about this series so far, having only heard about it, is that you’ll get to do what we love; deal with normal issues, with some of our favorite characters, in amazing settings. It’s like seeing a beautiful set of jewels in an brand new, amazing setting.
I really enjoy the possibilities when magic is involved. And dragons!
Good luck with the new release.
I would love to win a copy and good luck with the release.
I’ve been looking forward to this and am happy to hear Book 3 won’t be too far away. I like that in the magical P&P variations, Darcy and Elizabeth usually have to work together and then discover they want to work together.
Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy are strong characters as they are; however, adding a magical aspect to them makes their characterizations even bolder. I enjoy seeing how each character handles the magic.
Oh lordy! One thing I love about the magical variations is how the magic can be such an equalizer in a time when women weren’t thought to have any capacity for greatness. Especially when Darcy has to fight against ingrained prejudices to see just how powerful Lizzy can be, and how amazing they can be together. (Which yes, I know. That’s the basis of him in P&P, too, but the magic gives that aspect a new spin.)
Whether I win or not, I’m so excited for this book!
Very excited for you to have a new book out.
I like the magical variations because it adds a new facet to our beloved story.
Oh my goodness – I’ve actually never been tempted to read a Jane Austen variation until I read this today. It sounds AMAZING. 🤩 💫 🐉 🌟

I follow Pride & Prejudice variations – Elizabeth & Darcy are epic. Making Darcy a mage is an interesting twist that lends itself to many new adventures! I would love to read this new series – as you wish.
Congrats on the new release! I love magical variations of P&P because it combines my love of Elizabeth and Darcy with my love of the fantasy genre An absolute dream combo! And I get to imagine Matthew MacFayden as another version of Darcy? Yes, please!
I’m looking forward to the release of book 3 of the series. Love this trilogy and the addition of magical aspects adds interest to the characters and the story.
