WIP: When Pride Prevails, Chapter 1 — 17 Comments

  1. Now I wasn’t expecting that!!! Jane is already married!! The level of angst is already high for me and my mind has jumped to Wickham after reading Georgiana’s letter. Did Ramsgate happen and he killed Wickham in a fit of anger? Oh the questions…then again maybe Wickham married Miss King? You teasing woman, why haven’t they seen Jane? Why has Darcy exiled himself??? Looking forward to the next chapter!

  2. Whew! Lots more clues in Chapter 1. Hmmm… 3 years after Mr. Collins so Elizabeth is older and starting to worry about being on the shelf, Jane already married so she and Bingley aren’t likely to end up together, Darcy hiding to avoid imprisonment with Pemberley managed by Colonel Fitzwilliam and Georgiana… DANG! You’re really shaking things up here!

  3. Such an intriguing chapter!! I can’t wait to find out more!! 😀

It’ll be difficult to wait two weeks for the next installment, but I’ll manage somehow. 😉

Thank you for sharing these chapters with us; I’m definitely looking forward to February now!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  4. Hmm…I can’t think of anything Darcy could have done that would allow him to be seen in Hertfordshire without fear of repercussions, but prevent him from going to Pemberley for fear of arrest and imprisonment. o.O At least we know Georgiana’s okay! I also considered that he might have murdered Wickham, but if that were the case, how can he just go to Hertfordshire and socialize? Wouldn’t that be too risky? I can’t wait to find out what happened!

  5. I thought I had commented on this but it isn’t there so goodness knows what happened. I am hoping with the time difference that there will be no Wickham or Caroline in this version. I also hope that Darcy doesn’t insult Elizabeth and instead she can help him overcome whatever caused his exile? Can’t wait for more!

  6. More questions!

Jane isn’t married to Bingley but is her husband still living?
Darcy went overseas and ended up at Waterloo because of “something” that happened in Derbyshire but news of it wasn’t spread nationwide, so Hertfordshire is safe?
This “something” is some sort of crime but you didn’t mention hanging, so was it murder, or just suspected murder or some other alleged crime?
Is Darcy innocent of this crime?

Two weeks will seem like a long time!

  7. Oh my, I am hooked already…
Hopefully this will be released early in February?

Having read “Compulsory Mr Darcy” although that is a modern variation, I think he fits the neurotic state quite well… Will be interesting to read how it will unfold in a recency variation.

Love that you are not giving anything away. That would spoil the read 🙂
