Mr. Darcy’s Pledge Release Day

Well, the day is finally here! This is the official release of Mr. Darcy’s Pledge and I’m thrilled to be having it here on Austen Variations to celebrate with such a familiar and supportive group of
readers. This is my first Darcy-centric novel and quite different from my other novels in that it’s a variation (I’m not counting The Darcy Brothers here since that was a group project) rather than a sequel or spin-off, so I’m stepping into new territory in a sense. Really, it’s long overdue. Taking the plunge (so to speak) and writing about Darcy in a wet shirt (yes, there are two wet-shirt scenes in Mr. Darcy’s Pledge), and more importantly, delving into Darcy’s mind from his own perspective is an experience I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and I will enjoy even more as I work through the next volume which I am planning to release by the end of summer — I’m busy scribbling away at it.

For those of you who were asking — the actual story will end in Volume II, so have no fear, there will be a conclusive HEA at the end of Volume II, though I intend to write more Darcy Novels. I am also working hard at trying to include a kidnapping to satisfy a certain member of our audience, though so far it appears to be elusive. Still, one can always hope an opportunity will present itself. I live in anticipation of that moment. [For those of you who have found your way here and are feeling at sea at this point, just pretend you didn’t read the last couple of sentences 🙂 ]

So, without further ado, I officially announce the release of MR. DARCY’S PLEDGE!

Congratulations to LisaG for winning the ecopy of Mr. Darcy’s Pledge. Congratulations to Monica on the official release of her book! I am looking forward to reading it. It is on my TBR list. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Deborah!

  1. Woo hoo! Congratulations on the release, Monica! I really look forward to reading this and the second Volume, of course.

The cover is just gorgeous and the story sounds a great read.

Oh, and I am sure a certain member of the JA community will be waiting with baited breath for that kidnapping once it forms in your mind!

    1. Very kind of you to say so, Cassandra. As for the kidnapping, I’m doing my best!

    Many congrats to Lisa.

Monica, the more tantalisining little details you give us, the better it sounds. Two wet shirt scenes….sigh!

I’m sure your muse will eventually present you with the opportunity for a good kidnapping scene. We all know who’ll be delighted with that!

    1. Thank you, Anji. Don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter for an extra chance to win!

:). Know what you mean, Eileen. I’ve figured out “following” and basic “tweeting” but the rest, whatever that may be, escapes me.

Yes. I am still learning and fighting it out. I started using it in January. Keepnvoinv. We’ll all learn together.

No better way to learn than by doing. 🙂

Thanks for letting me know when the HEA will be. A HEA and a kidnappings? Some readers are so demanding! 😉

    1. I agree — we writers have so little choice in what we get to write!!

    1. I would love to have Miss M kidnapped. What a good idea, Monica P !

This is a definite for my wish list but will wait for Vol. II to buy it as I hate to wait to read the endings. Congratulations on the release and to the winner.

    1. Sheila — I understand how you feel and I know you share this with several others. Hopefully I will have the conclusion finished around September.

  5. The cover is stunning, and the story sounds like an absolute must-read! Go-go-go with Volume II, Monica, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for your muse but while we wait for the HEA, can’t resist the temptation of Vol I! Thanks for the giveaway, and best of luck with your new release!

    1. Joanna — thank you. I think your book The Second Chance, looks great as well. There are too few Sense and Sensibility variations and a mix of both P&P and S&S sounds intriguing.

    Hi Monica,
I congratulate you for the new book publication. It certainly has a lovely cover. Now that I know from your posting that your future writings are in response to some fans desires or ideas, will you be interested in writing a modern P&P variation? I would love to read one written by you. Anyway, I’m looking forward spending my night hours reading “Mr. Darcy’s Pledge” both volumes. Best wishes. 🙂

    1. Hi Denisia, thank you for your suggestion. I haven’t yet written a modern P&P variation but Steampunk Darcy is a dystopian, post-apocalyptic novel based on Pride & Prejudice. That’s the closest to modern I have, but perhaps in the future.

I hope you enjoy reading Mr. Darcy’s Pledge.

I have enjoyed your other books and look forward to diving into your first go at Darcy. I have great faith in your ability. I am sure we will be anxiously awaiting vol 2.

Congratulations on your release. Thank you for another giveaway.

    1. How nice of you to say so, Becky! Thank you!

I agree with Shiela, it will be on my TBR list when Vol. 2 is finished. I can only deal with unresolved angst for so long, before it starts to cause life issues. Wet shirts and kidnapping make the purchase inevitable, though, don’t you think? 😉

Oh, wet shirts for sure sold me! LOL! Waiting to read a comment from Dave about the kidnapping part.

  7. Kari — I admire those of you who have the patience to wait, I have to say, yes, if unresolved angst has such a disruptive potential, then you should by all means hold off.

The wet shirts are there. The kidnapping is still up in the air, but I’m working on it!

Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy! If I win, I’ll hide Bk 1 and wait for Bk 2!

    1. Leslie — very wise of you! But suppose you forget where you hid it after you bought Bk 2? Or worse still, forgot you have bought 1? You’ll have to write a note to self as a reminder, and put it somewhere you won’t forget.

But she could peek at the ending while she searched for the book. LOL 😉

        1. She could read it backwards, too, I suppose, which might make for a different reading experience. In which case, Leslie, you’ll have to peek at chapter one before you start reading backwards.

Oh, dear, all this peeking and backwards and forwards reading is turning me quite dizzy…:)
