Cover Reveal: A Merry Christmas Chase

It’s that time of the year. The days are getting shorter, there’s a bite in the air, and the clocks are soon to be turned back. I don’t know how it is in your neck of the woods, but here in the UK, the shops are starting to put up Christmas items in preparation for the frenzy ahead. It seems to be happening earlier and earlier every year! I know at least one person who’s already done all her shopping, having taken advantage of any bargains she could find. I wish I could be so organized!

Things were very different in the Regency era. Estate owners would have already abandoned London to retire to their estates for the hunting season. Bingley rented Netherfield at Michaelmas, which was September 29th, and around this time of the year (mid-end of October) Darcy’s famous snub at the Meryton Assembly took place. All over England, the round of hunting parties and house parties would be getting into full swing.

While wealthy landowners galloped across the land, those less fortunate also took advantage of the hunting season, but in a less open manner. Poaching was one of the leading issues of the time, after enclosure laws “enclosed” lands that had been available to everyone and made it punishable by law to hunt if you weren’t invited by a landowner. If caught poaching, you could be deported. My Regency novella starts with the heroine running into trouble as she stealthily creeps through the woods, disguised as a boy. As meetings go, the encounter between hero and heroine is even more hostile than the encounter between Darcy and Elizabeth at the Meryton Assembly. *gasp*

Without further ado, I’m excited to announce that my Regency Novella, A Merry Christmas Chase, is now available for pre-order on Amazon at a bargain pre-order price.  a-merry-christmas-chase-cover-medium-web

A Merry Christmas Chase: Blurb

When the new Earl at Sorrelgate Lodge catches Cherry poaching, she manages to escape before he discovers her identity. But the Earl is serious about catching his poacher and bringing “him” to justice, so Cherry flees to her estranged rich aunt. Imagine her dismay when she discovers that the Earl is a house guest there for the whole Twelve Days of Christmas! She quickly has to improvise to throw him off the scent.

Lord Carsdale is attending the Christmas house party to find a wife, but there is something very odd about Lady Ashburn’s niece. At first he does everything he can to avoid her, but soon catches glimpses of someone else behind the mask she wears. As Carsdale becomes more and more intrigued, he is unaware that she is leading him on a merry chase in which the boundary between the hunter and the hunted quickly gets hopelessly tangled.

A Sweet Traditional Regency romance that will warm the cockles of your heart.

A Merry Christmas Chase is available for pre-order on Kindle. I’m hoping to have it available soon as a paperback, too.

Looks like a good intriguing read Monica – thank you for this to get in readiness for Christmas – and no I am not one of those people who buy Christmas cards in the August sales
    Best wishes

    1. Hehehe! Christmas cards in August! Seems to defeat the purpose.
Many thanks for the good wishes, Ann!

  3. Did you publish a scene from this story somewhere, Monica? It sounds very familiar to me.

But I think I’ll just have to pre-order to find out! 😉

    Congratulations!!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

    1. Yes — I had a scene out last year when it was a story in a box set. Good memory, Susanne!

The cover is a beautiful winter scene. I love the red satin dress with the white lace. To have made a worse impression than Darcy. Wow! I have preordered the ebook.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! You’re too kind 🙂
