Celebrating The Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote

P&P200cover7small
This week we’re taking a couple of days to celebrate Pride & Prejudice: The Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote, an anthology many of us participated in, by sharing a few of our favorite scenes from it. It started a couple of years ago with a project called P&P200 where we took turns writing missing scenes from Pride & Prejudice. We wrote events Jane Austen told us about but didn’t show, like Lady Catherine telling Mr. Collins to find a wife; events happening off stage, like Mr. & Mrs. Hurst’s discussion after the Netherfield ball; and actual Pride & Prejudice scenes from a different point of view, like Mr. Darcy’s view of the Meryton Assembly.

Once the project was finished, we decided to make it into a book. Since we’d been looking for a way to give back to the community of Austen lovers who have supported us, we decided to donate 100% of the royalties to Austen-related charities. Our first donation will be going to the Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton.

The next four posts are short excerpts from the book, which is now available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. Come back on our Fiction Friday on March 14 for more excerpts!  To jump directly to today’s excerpts, use these links:

This is a fun book. One of my favorite scenes is when the Hursts go to the assembly.

    1. That’s a great scene, isn’t it?

I read the whole book through and it was wonderful. It took me two months! This was over holiday period though so I couldn’t dedicate non stop reading however I was determined to read it in its entirety to keep the momentum going and it was well worth it. This is a classic collection in my eyes. And a worthy collectors item for anyone that loves Pride and Prejudice. All the chapters were delightful, every author should be proud of this achievement! Congratulations! I look forward to reading it again whether all or a scene at a time 🙂

    1. Thanks, Vee! One of the things I enjoy about the book is that I can pick it up, read a few sections, and put it down again, and I don’t have to read the whole thing to find out how it ends. It just adds depth to it.

  2. If you’ve read P&P Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote, please take a minute and write a review on Amazon, Goodreads, etc. – especially if you loved it! Seriously, we’d love to see more reviews posted!

What a great gesture, to donate the proceeds to the Chawton House. I bought the book a while back and have been metering my reading to make it last longer!

I enjoyed reading through the project as it unfolded as blog posts and then in this book form. You all have so much talent. I wish you luck on the sales for the charity drive.

  3. I didn’t get the chance to read all the scenes from P&P200 when it was first posted on Austen Authors. Thanks for highlighting some of the scenes. I’m glad that the proceeds of the book sale will go to Jane Austen House Museum as I heard on FB that they are in need of funds due to the recent floods.
